When I asked about this on the Cinema Treasures thread someone wrote that they were taken down for repair and rewiring and would be going back up. So there may be no need for heartbreak.

They had a really bad leak(s) in the ceiling last winter as well. My mom actually got a cold after we went to see a movie there. I hope there are some plans to address that in the preservation effort, because roofs can be expensive! -Lauren Oh, it sounds like they have some plans to address that in...

How funny, that the blogger stops in to do a restaurant review and just happens to learn he's there for the final night of the place's 50-year (?) run.

There can never be enough plugs for Old Town Music Hall. Saw the Christmas program last week, and even though it was the exact same shorts I saw there two years ago, it was still be great. I'll be there for "March of the Wooden Soldiers" weekend after this one.

Glad they're doing something with the marquee. It sat there empty and dilapidated in front, and anybody driving by unsuspecting on Highway 138 during the day (and that's a lot of traffic) would have assumed the place was closed.

As a former (and possibly future) Idahoan, I'm thrilled to see all these photos. Some places, like the Viking drive-through restaurant and Motor-Vu drive-in theater, I patronize at least a couple times a year. Others I don't recognize at all. I wish they all had captions for locations, but I realize...

Cool! Is the FairVu Drive-in still standing? No, the FairVu Drive-in was torn down in 1995. (I believe it was for a development that fell through, and the land stayed vacant for a while... surprise.) The nearest remaining drive-ins are about 45 minutes from Boise, but a lot of Boiseans make the tri...

Sigh... Anyone who was a member of the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films in the late '70s and early '80s, when the flamboyant Dr. Donald Reed ran the organization, remembers the Gordon well, for its Saturday (or was it Sunday?) morning preview screenings. How can I ever forget see...

*THUD* Oh my gosh! In 1975, I used to work at the FairVu Drive In in Boise. After work, we often went to this Sambo's and drank coffee and ate french fries! We COVERED them in catsup! LOL Talk about a blast from the past! I haven't thought of this in decades! As a former Boisean, I miss the FairVu ...

And if you go, stop in across the street at the Old Town Music Hall beforehand! I think they're playing "Going My Way" this weekend. But at 8:15, the show starts with a half-hour of live music on a vintage pipe organ from an old palace in Long Beach, followed by a singalong of '20s and '30...

It's because Westwood Village has become all theaters-too many and not much else, maybe that's why the crowds left they want more than just theaters. Sad to see the bldg. go tho. Westwood Village "has become all theaters"? If only. When did this happen? Three have closed down within the l...

Re: Tagus Ranch near Tulare

Along Highway 99 near Tulare is the "world famous" Tagus Ranch Country Theater. This place is looking quite run down, but the sign is a gem, in my opinion. Tulare and Visalia are looking to develop in that area, and the Tagus Ranch is a big part of the local history. Hopefully whichever c...
