Sponge Bob Tiki Green Paint

Chimay - I'm going to get the pics posted up on my website this coming weekend, and I'll probably start a new topic - something like bright colors vs. authentic colors vs. neutrals in MCM decor. I was going to try to get a bunch of our before and after pics up this weekend, but I got started working...

tikiyaki - we've got the same picture! Eric and I both spotted it at the same time. I immediately focused in on the old cars, my husband saw the signs. He was a sign painter 16 years ago when we first met. I saw cool old cars, he saw sign painter's heaven. We had to have it! Normally we wouldn't buy...

jenkinshouse, Thanks for the additional pics. Your neighbor's house is a real beauty indeed. I have a thing for carports. I love it! In the pic, there appears to be some windows on the other side of the carport - an entry area maybe? Very cool look! I can see that you have your work cut out for you,...

I agree with the general discussion here. IKEA is good for temporary, decent-looking MCM stuff until you can get the real thing. It has worked extremely well for us over the last four years since moving within driving distance of an IKEA. If it weren't for them, we would have nothing to sit on. We h...

Tribeca Rack at Target

Hi Sid, Asking your forgiveness in advance if invoking the name of Target makes you cringe in horror. However, hubby and I spotted this just the other evening. We almost picked it up ourselves, but we don't really have an especially good spot to place a coat rack in our smallish 1 bd, 1 bath condo. ...

Yep, there are dangers ...

Since you use them a lot, I probably would go ahead and hand-wash everything just to be safe and hold off the wear and tear as much as possible. They face enough dangers as it is. I just recently lost a fabulous vase/bowl type thing in gold and black. It had a very cool diamond design in black and a...

It depends ...

I put my vintage glassware in the dishwasher sometimes, and we also hand-wash them. I think any kind of use of the old "painted" or "printed" type glassware will add some wear and tear over time. I have a few items that are in pristine condition and I simply don't use them. We have them on display i...

Thanks for the info

Thanks gazingsoul for all the great info on Park La Brea. I'm a big fan of LA architecture and history, and I especially enjoyed your details! We looked into Park La Brea when first considering a move back to SoCal from the Central California Valley. We only saw their web site, http://www.parklabrea...

Contemporary Cloth also good

I love Melina's fabrics. They are well-made, good quality fabrics, excellent for upholstery. There is also a good site with lower prices. They have a nice tiki print, as well as a couple of good boomerang prints - for way less per yard. You can find them at http://www.contemporarycloth.com Nancy Hap...
