I posted on your Facebook wall, but I'm excited that anyone is even thinking of reproducting this product. I think there is a strong market for it, as it was used SO extensively in the 1940-60 timeframe... People restoring their homes may need to replace deteriorating pieces, and it can be used so c...

I hope there aren't going to be any significant changes to the old Broadway (which had interiors by Raymond Loewy; Albert B Gardiner was the architect) or the May Company (AC Martin and Samuel Marx).

The first mention I could find was in the LA Times in 1939. Paul E. Haynes of Pasadena won a $25 award for a small house design from the Los Angeles Brick Exchange. I found an LA Times mention from 1953 that he went to the University of Minnesota. Also, in 1956 it was announced that a Metropolitan C...

Los Angeles, CA - Baldwin Hills Village "Village Green&

Some friends of mine are renting a very large 1 bedroom upper apartment, with balcony and private patio. The unit is 1,016 square feet, in one of the best locations in the Village, overlooking the large west green. The Village Green is a National Historic Landmark community in the Baldwin Hills area...

I'm agreeing with as simple as possible, and much lighter - that sheet of reverse-painted glass seems to me the nicest, maybe in a blue or green that is very light, and VERY greyed down. A very light pearl grey (but on the warm side) would be my first choice, with the countertop and floor you've alr...

I vote for either linoleum or formica with that metal edge.

I think formica would be more maintenance free.

Simple basic pinch-pleated curtains were used commonly, and they are relatively inexpensive and readily available at JC Penney. Look at the Supreme, it comes in a wide array of colors and sizes. http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=60156&CatID=60956&GrpTyp=SIZ&ItemID=10135e3&a...

And I personally like the button and the piped seams you found on the first ivory layer.

We LOVE the linoleum!

That inlaid stripe of color was a design feature of the kitchen when it was designed in 1941, so we just restored it using that design.

It's very comfortable on your feet, and easy to take care of. We had textured ceramic tile with big ugly grout lines before this.

I have the name of the guy somewhere, but can't find it at the moment. Our cabinetmaker created the wood template for it, and the metal worker wrapped it and installed it. So for the stainless (with marine edge) installed (minus the underlying template) was roughly 1100.00. I'll look around for his ...

We bought a Hotpoint refrigerator, circa 1950 in 1998, and it's been reliable and trouble-free ever since. It has a separate freezer compartment and door, so the interior space is larger perhaps than other vintage refrigerators. I've found it to be well insulated, and it rarely turns on. You do have...

If you search on eBay, you can browse anything using the generic search "Eames" (eames sofa, eames lamps, etc), and you can also sort things so that items closest to your zip code appear first. This might be a good way of figuring out things you respond to, and start seeing who George Nels...

We did a very short, dense velvet pile in a pretty neutral mousy brown. It came in a wide array of colors, but we got it at the Home Depot Expo Center, which is now kaput. I'm sure you can find many similar types of carpeting at any carpet place. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1342/876766737_db4f61e...

that green convertible is a '46, you can tell by the CADILLAC spelled out in block letters on the front fender. In '47 they went to script.
