And just maybe a dive off the highway for the James Garner stsute...

Yes, Chris

I know that Lotta Livin is aware of the Tulsarama event.

That was not my question.

I asked if anyone knew of must-see modern sites in Tulsa while we are there.

I'm pretty certain of finding the Plymouth.

Tulsarama Bound- Modern Tulsa Sites?

Okay, all you Modernaires- I've admitted my weakness and am driving to Tulsa for Tulsarama. I can't imagine why I thought for five minutes that I could live without it. Anyway, I'm doing research to find must-see Modernism in Tulsa. I've already found the Lortondale Neighborhood and the recently res...

I read about this yesterday and drove down this morning camera in hand. Approaching Johnie's eastbound, it almost looks normal until you're right upon it. I drove past and spun around on Firestone and it looked like a bomb had gone off. I spent some time walking the site and talking to the locals wh...

She was indeed the grand marshall, although in all honesty she looked much more like Norma Desmond than herself. Silver lame' turban and all, in the back seat of a 1959 Cadillac convertible. It was the only non-hearse in the procession. At her age, she may have an aversion to hearses..... Mahalo, Tr...

Chris- The world's largest hearse procession was a great event. I met some friends from San Francisco who came down with their 1971 Miller-Meteor Cadillac (one of the most popular coaches of its day) and took part in the festivities. Of 91 coaches pre-registered, 86 actually made it on to the street...

Definately bring gramma- especially if she's anything like Agnes Moorehead or Eartha Kitt. But it might not be the right venue for minvans full of toddlers, that's all... It's a great campy party, so be comfortable with the setting. And bring decent stemware for your Martini, for goodness sake. Maha...

The OK-check neon sign was in fact a Chevrolet Used Car sign promoting branded used car sales at an authorized new car franchise. It's neither a Mercedes nor a Jaguar- but is precisely the Daimler it claims to be. There were lots of cottage industry english automakers, and this was simply one of them. Modern Hotels in LA- The Standard will be spectacular but if course is a recent creation- it's retro-modern.
