Sky, that totally cracked me up. I've been lurking on and off lately, since our daughter (age 2 now!) has taken over my life. I'm fighting to get more time with which I will read and post more often. It's always good to try to get time away from your child to spend more time on the internet, I know....

Izzy is pretty hip to what is going on and she's from near here, too. In fact, she and her husband are so industrious they are making the rest of us look bad. :D

Longtime poster, recent lurker... Robb, Since you can't seem to go wrong with any of your house choices so far, I'm sure whatever you do will be cool. I recommend trying to emulate work of the cubists, like Ferdinand Leger, or a surrealist, like Joan Miro. Also, pop art is easy and flat. You can use...

Why do people always bury time capsules? It seems like it would make much more sense to build something like an above ground crypt with ventilation. Burying stuff in the ground seems so 50 years ago.

For lack of a better word, I think those stained glass windows are really fun. Good for you for buying a house even though you have no furniture to fill it! What a great way to start. We sort of did that by having a garage sale before we moved out of a 650 sqft craftsman into our 1690 sqft house. Yo...

googieagog, thank you for your great reply! The idea to put the aluminum vent strips at the edge of the soffit makes so much sense and will hopefully be much more visually appealing that what is there now. Your 8' soffit rocks, by the way. rebuilding the soffits and other questions...

I'm looking for some ideas and thoughts for one of our many upcoming projects. Our house has a flat roof and what I believe are called soffits. The soffits are made of 1/2" plywood boards nailed to the ends of 2x10s (or are they 2x12s?) and have a gap with screening tucked underneath. The scree...
