That is a very cool coffee shop. It reminds me a bit of some of the old Biff's restaurants.
I have been watching a lot of old Adam-12 episodes lately and they have some great views of late 60s/early 70s Los Angeles County. They show Biff's in a few episodes.

There used to be a Carnation Ice Creamland store in Garden Grove near the intersection of Chapman and Euclid. It was very cool. It had the classic red & white striped decor with those white wrought iron chairs with the heart shape. My friends and I used to hang out there and play pinball in the ...

Re: Kite Coffee Shop in South LA reopens

XLNT!
I have some pics on my site from when the place was closed from a few years ago. I thought this place was a goner. Great to see it's reuse. I need to get over there and take pics of the place now.

I had a feeling this was going to happen. Tagging has become such a scourge for so many of our country's great cities. It is especially bad here in Los Angeles. It seems like every time something new is built here for our community, these idiot kids can't wait to destroy it.

La Cienega Lanes

We are doing a job at work that has us scanning a bunch of old images of the musician Joe Walsh. One of them has him on the steps of an old bowling alley called La Cienega Lanes. The picture was taken in the 70s and the bowling alley appears to be boarded up in the photo, so I imagine it was torn do...

A semi-cool facade on an otherwise boring strip mall structure. The store itself was terrible and I am surprised that they stayed in business so long with all the Rite Aid, Walgreens and CVS stores in the area. I can't say that I would miss this one if it goes.
