Another fantastic house. I've been in this one too. Can't disagree, Josquin. It's possible to enhance its position with some creativity and hard work.

Stephen, maybe overkill, not sure. I'm scouting around for a good handyman too. Whoever comes along first is fine with me. We had a great handyman that retired. Since then, haven't found anyone very good.

Mike, thanks for the tip. I am in the process of trying to track down the builder on a neighbor's fence. I know finish carpenters are out there, but so far, every good one I find is four or more months out. Guess I'll have to be patient.

Great chairs. How about something eliptical? Or rectangular, but with legs that taper like the DCW legs taper?

Pauline: Your picture also reminds me of the CA bungalows that bitzala mentioned. Kind of spanish/mediteranneo 2 level box style. Same feel, in that they're only partial-2 story, same window detailing, french doors etc. bitz, your description is spot on. Wish I had pictures of a friend's house in Ea...

scowsa: Cool web site. Thanks for the link and the great idea. (Calif.living, by the way, has a lounge chair that we're considering very seriously.) "So many great options and unfortunately, most of them more $$$ than I can justify spending. Does that make me a modernist?" That was not a question in...

Connie, those are great photos. Thanks! The chairs look terrific in that home. Chimay, I checked out the highbrow web site and found Schultz's 1966 collection mind blowing. Damn. I would love to buy those chairs, if money were no object. Synthetic space- thanks for the tip. Dune looks great. I did a...

Connie: Thanks. I know what you mean on the vintage front. Although I really like a few re-dos of old pieces, most don't do it for me. I looked at casuali yesterday. It is a great site. Portofino is cool. We're looking for a lounge chair with ottoman. The chair that grabbed us the most was more than...

Thanks. "Outside" sounds intriguing. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it on-line.

I just saw a lounge chair and ottoman that would be perfect.

This link has a photo. Wondering if this exists anywhere.

I don't know if this is a "standard" for MCM homes or not, but we addressed this issue recently in our home with similar architecture. Our designer recommended something very basic-- a 2 1/2 inch molding that has a slight ly rounded edge. Or same size, but with a squared edge. (We opted for the firs...
