I stopped by the Dekker house while walking my dog this past Sunday. The new owner, Frank, happened to be there and offered to give me a tour of the house. How amazing is that?! Frank is restoring everything that he can. The wood is being hand sanded and brought back to it's former glory. All of the...

L.A. architect recommendations that don't cost a fortune?

The subject says it all. My wife and I know what we'd like to do in remodeling our MCM hillside house. We really need someone to draw up plans so we can get a geological survey and submit everything to a structural engineer. Thank you for any replys.

I have to admit I'm tired of flippers myself. I'll second that! So we all agree, but at least they repaired this house. The sellers bought the house at the peak of the market a year ago. They may be stuck with it for a while if they don't lower their asking price. There are a lot of houses on the m...

Beachwood Canyon, CA - Great MCM

This house has been on the market for about a month now. I walked past this house everyday while they were under renovation. I never got to see the inside, until this website. They kept some(if not all) the original fixtures while updating the feel of the home. I think they did a great job. Whom eve...

Hollyridge Drive

I live down the street from the house for sale. The neighborhood is fantastic. We have lots of barbeques, poker parties and progressive dinners. The house's views are incredible. The house, in my opinion, does need to be worked on, but not much. The floors are great, but there is an eighties makeove...

My Banta House

Mr. Nichols, My house was one of three built in 1961 in Beachwood Canyon, Los Angeles. It has a similar appearance to the 1961 AIA "Award of merit for merchant housing". Originally the house was shaped like an H. In the two open spaces of the H was a car port and a back deck. The back deck was parti...

Architect-Richard Banta

I live in a Richard Banta designed mcm home in the Hollywood Hills. I would like more information than what I found using the search engine about Mr. Banta. Could anyone help me out? I'd like to see some articles or pictures of other homes he designed. What I'd like to really find is the original ar...
