Pann's neon

Great to hear the Pann's people were not hoodwinked into getting L.E.D. by some companies that don't want to use neon because they can't deal with it, especially for the letters.....south of me in Wildwood, NJ, many concerns are going L.E.D. and the applications look absolutely cheesy and its ruinin...

That is old! It should go to the National Sign Museum in Cincinnati. Where is it now?

wildwood diner

Nobody within Wildwood has a clue as to what preservation is. Did you ever see that groups (?) website forum? The rare instance when it is brought up there is no response or someone grinds their axe at you. It should be called the do-wop developer's league.

Wildwood NJ Diner Demolished

The Wildwood Diner in the heart of Wildwood NJ was incongruously razed this past week during the peak of the summer season. Despite a given it was due to fall, no media, "preservationists", historians nor concerned parties had come forward to document its important past social history, arc...

Re: Wildwood

I can't believe New Jersey and Wildwood is letting this happen. I thought with the Wildwood Preservation, Wildwood was being saved. I have been doing alittle research and there is suppose to be a book on how to build/restore "doo Wop" in Wildwood. I recently bought a DVD about Wildwood an...

New New Yorker sign...more info

I was told the LED's on the Hotel New Yorker sign are actually red, thus the brightness can be equal to that of neon since this is the only LED color capable of matching its brightness. Yes, the original neon letter cans (in bad shape) had to be replaced (the original steel structural framework was ...

There are LCD display applications but that would be even more off the preservation slope. Is there a closer shot of the letters?

If those LED's are white, they'll never match the brightness of neon from what I've been told by some neon and lighting techs. Nor the lifespan. As for sign preservation, NOT...! A good example of neon preservation is that Pepsi sign they dismantled and moved. Nat'l Trust should do more fact checkin...

neon clock signs

Neon collectors are preferable to contact concerning neon signs instead of sign companies as the companies have a business to run. Some of the collectors are (some already mentioned) Tod Swormstedt of the National Sign Museum in Cinncinnati, Len Davidson in Philadelphia, David Benko in Washington St...

In Coney Island there is a plaque on the building where the former Luna Park entrance stood, I believe its part of the original structure. Its a sober reminder of great times long ago and quite an eye-opener to the newly interested. Definetely better on the building than at foot level.

What's with the church -- can you describe it, or. . .? SDR I can't remember the name, its definetely in LIC. They have a tour there of churches, but this isn't on it, the tour is of older 1800;s churches. This may be 50's or 60's, pretty sure its Catholic. Its not the similar one in Queens which i...

I can see by all these posts on Wildwood no one had a clue as to the scope of the destruction happening and to come. You're all too busy with wishful thinking instead of municipal action. Those on this forum from the west coast seem far more familiar and professional with how to go about saving some...

Your quest is unfortunately way too late. Even in its prime Wildwood wasn't "the greatest concentration of modern resort architecture in the world". L.A., Vegas, Ft. Lauderdale as a whole had/have more motels/apts. Wildwood demolitions began circa 2001 and is really rolling the past 12 months, with ...
