Atlanta, GA-Brookhaven East

Cheapy section of Brookhaven, but now considered a great area for starter homes inside the Perimeter. Not much to look at, but price & location & right owner could make it cool. Most houses in this range on the northside are much closer to the Perimeter. http://www.harrynorman.com/Listing/Li...

The oven is pretty rusty on the inside. I am hoping to replace the Merilott (spl?) cabinets with vintage St. Charles, and then use reconditioned vintage or new, but aesthetically correct appliances.

Kitchen is hard because it is just one long space with windows.

Nice little Swim\Tennis community just outside perimeter on Northside; schools considered good. Seems to be a good price, but of course, house looks shabby. I think houses usually sell here in the 350k plus range. http://www.harrynorman.com/Listing/ListingDetail.aspx?Search=06768d59-a672-453f-8573-f...

You beat me to this one!

I saw the listing and drove by before the pic was up. I thought it looked great from the street. Neighborhood is a mix of McMansions and large ranches, several of them being Contemporary ranches. The school district is probably Morris Brandon.

Looking forward to an open...

First off, the house is open again this weekend. Last weekend it was 1-4 PM, this weekend will be 3-5 PM. Personally, I'll be on the tour of Modern Homes. No Pics; homeowner gave a thumbs-down. price-range of MCMs

Yes, you can find contemporaries on the north end, and Inside The Perimeter from $250K, but more to the NE side of ITP for the lower end of that scale, and the houses will be not in the Atlanta City limits. In the City of Atlanta Morris Brandon/Jackson/Smith elementary school districts, you are prob...

Okay, the price is steep for most folks on this list, but its (say in your best educated Southern drawl) Buckhead. I can attest to the fact that Morris Brandon Elementary is a fabulous school. I just talked to agent... selling as a tear-down. She mentioned that the house was profiled in a Better Hom...

I've been through the house 2-3 times. It started as a FSBO at $670K. The owner says he designed the house. Tiny Master bath. Every time I go through it, I feel more "ho-hum" about it, but I guess it could be very nice. Pool is cool; garage is just off kitchen... no lugging groceries. Whil...

Land prices - Atlanta

Depending on the location, that could be a great price for acreage. We live in a 1950s neighborhood next a golf course in Midtown Atlanta. Half acre tear-down lots are $600k + on most streets. If the lot backs up to the golf course, sale prices have been $780k to $900k for the "tear-downs"...

The Veltre one is the "safest" of the three I posted. Collier Heights just doesn't feel as safe as Cascade to me, but there are professionals there, and already some pioneers/refugees from more expensive areas of ATL.

Because we would have to sell our present house to move to the next one, a complete rebuild is not desirable unless the sale price allowed us renting accomodations during the rebuild. I have found several great MCMs on the west side in the traditionally African-American neighborhoods. We missed out ...
