Save the 76 Balls

I was driving south on PCH thru Newport Beach on Saturday, and while stopped at the intersection of PCH and Avocado Ave., I saw a 76 Ball!!! It was a beautiful orange one! :D It wasn't spinning though. :( Didn't have a camera, so if there is anybody in the Newport Beach area, take a picture and post...

La Brea & Wilshire

Well, I'm so glad that Nadel Architects heard my "comments" and returned to the drawing board, following the presentation of the monstrocity they planned for this major intersection. As for this new proposal, am I the only one who feels this one already looks dated, even before it's built?...

Johnie's Broiler, Downey

I want to express my outrage of the obviously blatant "RAPE" of one of the jewels of Googie architecture, Johnie's Broiler restaurant. When will it stop???? Are we to loose all of our architectural heritage, and having nothing left to pass on the next generation? I moved from Los An...

Glad to see that Dupar's has re-opened after being closed for such
a long time. Was concerned that this landmark restaurant was
destined for the history books.

Been awhile since I was there, and am looking forward to
eating there again. :D

Miracle Mile: Mullen & Bluett

I used to live in the neighborhood, at 3rd and Cloverdale, in a newer building, with the most incredible view of downtown "framed" within my sliding doors, once I opened the front door. Miss that place. :( But actually, will miss this architectural gem that is being demolished, as I had fr...

As a former Stockton resident, now back temporarily, I remember going to Pollardville for my 10th birthday, with a group of friends. We celebrated and took turns being locked up in the jail cell. Was quite fun checking out the western town and watching a 'gunfight'. I still have the pictures. Years ...

I just read something on LAObserved.com that mentioned a rumor
that Columbia Square is to be razed for a parking garage, for the
future development of the Hollywood Palladium.

Isn't there anything that can be done to stop this slaughter of
one of Hollywood's landmarks, such as a petition?

Well, now that the rooftop neon sign is gone, with a cheap plastic

neon sign in front.

Nothing worse than a partial facelift!

I agree that it seems now fake Art Deco, seems to be the design dejour along Wilshire.
