When I still lived in LA, they did shows there every once in a while. It was under construction at the time. It looks like it is open now.

There's a big difference between installing a new wall mounted, tank in the wall toilet and putting in a vintage one. What is missing in this case is the flange and mounting that went into the wall in 1959. I would imagine that indeed those parts are no longer available. The missing parts probably ...

Problems going from floor to wall toilet

We are having a bathroom remodeled right now. We bought wonderful 1959 american standard green toiley and pedestal sink. Problem is that the toilet previously there was floor mounted and the new (old) toilet is wall mounted. Plumbers that have come by essentially say that they can't/won't make that ...

It is not the last. There are two still oeprating here in Houston. When I moved here from LA, I asked a waitress if it was the same chain as LA and she said it was and that there was also one in Colorado somewhere still.

I would like to add that although Architecture is regarded as Fine Art, it can also be considered as Applied Art in a creative and/or abstract context. And even in certain instances, Furniture (as a sculpural work) can be regarded as Fine Art... See the quote below for the general subject matter of ...

He said that Herman Miller is no longer paying money to the Eames estate-- that their status as licensee for this design has technically expired, as the "patent and copywrite only lasted for 50 years". So, while HM was once the true licensee for Eames DCW and DCM. they are no longer entit...

I am not so sure how "affordable" stuff from Herman Miller, Knoll, etc was back in the day. In terms of actual cost adjusted for inflation... a $35 chair in the '50s is the same as $350 today. I believe the Eames Lounge Chair and ottoman was $375 in the late '50s, today sells for $3000. J...

What was the story with that cut shrine in the hallway? That thing was a trip. I'm hoping that there were photos of all of the original owners pets over the years in it when you bought it.

Las Vegas, NV - Neon Boneyeard tour - TIX Available

My wife and I scheduled a tour of the Neon Boneyard in Vegas on tuesday May 23rd at 11am. The tour is for up to 10 people for a flat rate of 50 bucks. Right now it's just my wife and I, but we were hoping to find other people in Vegas who wanted to come along to help split the cost. If we could get ...

Interesting how the article disses the staples center as being a monstrosity, but it seems to have cured the 3 major complaints listed in the same paragraph 1) the lakers (and now the clippers) actually win games, 2)it's extremely easy to get in and out of, 3) and while the food is equally overprice...

Re: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

Are you kidding me?!?!? As someone who works in the music industry (and who, well, one day hoped to work in that building), this breaks my heart. There is no longer anything right in the universe. Even still it would be cool to live in a condo that was once the Capitol records building. I would be ...

Of course check out Bullocks Wilshire by Margaret Leslie Davis as it was one of the first modern department stores with lots of parking. I currently go to school in what was the Bullocks Wilshire. The building does tours open to the public (with a "tea" that is made by our cafeteria so I ...
