Oral Roberts University - The Architecture

I in no way want to start a discussion on the schools beliefs, politics or problems, but in the first article link below the comment was made “….which had a modern, space-age design when it was built in the early 1960s but now looks dated, like Disney's Tomorrowland.â€￾ So, I thought I would che...

Mid-Century pottery opinion sought…

What “brandâ€￾ do you think this piece is? It is about 12â€￾ high and you can see the marking on the bottom. I picked it up in an antique shop in Phoenix. I don’t know anything about brands but my wife and I really liked it. Does the mark on the bottom tell anyone anything? Thanks for your help....

Thanks all for the kind words. It is indeed down Chula Vista way, south of San Diego. We have been eyeballing the place for several months, watching it fall out of escrow several times before the sellers saw the wisdom of our lower, but rock solid offer. We feel very fortunate that the interior wood...

Our new home in San Diego, CA.

Well, we have done it. Here are some pictures of our new Mid-Century home. It was a custom build in 1963. I am trying to track down info on the architect. His name was J. Richard Wilson, license number C3561. So far, no luck but I will keep plugging along. At 2,800 square feet, it is rather big, but...

Vintage San Diego architect info sought…What is my next st

I am curious what steps people have taken to track down an architect of a MCM home. Specifically, I am trying to find other projects this architect may have worked on. Here is what I have so far: According to the circa 12/3/62 building record, the architect/engineer of my home is J. Richard Wilson. ...

Home Theater Seating...Comfort with style?

My wife and I are about to close on a MCM home (pictures will be forthcoming). We are looking for seating that will offer the comfort and convenience of our tragically un-hip Lazy Boy love seat. Criteria for consideration? Comfort for those 6+ hour Deadwood watching sessions, something that can recl...

1959 Dodge and 1966 Corvette

Here are the two that I am driving of late, a 1966 Corvette and a 1959 Dodge. The Dodge is mid-restoration as we speak. Who knows when that will be done.... James http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/Sartana/ForumPost2.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/Sartana/MVC-002S.jpg

Putting that sparkle back into the Cottage Cheese Ceiling…

At some point in its history, the Cottage Cheese/Popcorn ceiling in our home was painted over. Does anyone know how it can be redone in the sparkle style of yesteryear? I know that for many, ceilings like this are best removed, but that is the way it came and frankly, I think that with the sparkle, ...
