Hey, that's my picture of that old Ford Crest! Cool!

Anyway, It would be cool if that old dealership could be saved....they just don't build 'em like they used too!

Sadly, a stucco box is probably waiting in the wings for that site.

Mammoth Orange Hamburger Stand

Looks like the Mammoth Orange hamburger stand, located off Highway 99 just north of Madera, California, is getting a new lease on life. This is good news!

What a bummer!! A sports bar? Gee, that's original! That place has an amazing interior by the looks of those pictures! Of course, in today's society, which appears to me to be a bit shallow, a run of the mill sports bar is more appealling. Go figure! Thanks for sharing the pictures. I hope that mayb...

Restored Thunderbird Inn in Savannah!

Check out the link to this newly restored Thunderbird Inn in beautiful Savannah! It's great to see a restoration like this and an appreciation for this era! Are we finally starting to turn a corner for the better as far as mid century appreciation is concerned? I sure hope this place gets lot's of b...

Well, Disney sure ain't the same!! Walt would be quite peeved to know that the current management at Disney would request that the area surrounding Disneyland be turned into Blandville. Why not just go ahead and make Disneyland itself a bunch of stucco boxes? That will make it look "good",...

I am so glad that that Steven Weiss and Mel's are making this investment! It takes a lot of heart to go into a venture like this and give new life to an old landmark. I, for one, will support with my patronage the Parasol Mel's when I am in the area. Thanks for the update.

That Wayne McAllister sure was a great architect. Ya know, somebody ought to write a book about him. I would bet that it's a concept drawing for Cal-Expo up here in Sacramento. The white group of buildings with the four open towers look exactly like that, also the water area around that same group is the same at the real Cal-Expo.. bridge ways, ramps.. The big exhibit halls look just like that, th...

Cool slideshow. I HOPE that Treasure Island will wake up and realize that they have a great collection of an American era there and somehow appreciate it. It's possible, since Miami was once not very fond of it's vast collection of Art Deco buildings, but they woke up and now those same buildings ar...

Roadside stuff from various locations around California

Here are a few pics of some places we have been recently. First off, we were down in the LA area for the Planes of Fame airshow in Chino. I took the wife out to the Magic Lamp Inn on Foothill (Route 66) in Rancho Cucamonga. Neat place, food was great, atmosphere was great, and the neon sign was grea...

Gotcha ! Mopar transplants are less common than GM, though, I guess -- not for any good reason ? The hemi is legendary. . . I'm so pleased by the rod-and-custom revival (if that's what it is). The old guys and the younger generation(s) are both contributing. Some beautiful cars are being made (and ...

Someone went to a lot of trouble to get this done. While the stylized flame (?) job is a classic, the dots are unique -- I see why you would bring this to the attention of us 'fifties nuts. Gotta love those "regal" air stacks on the triple carbs, no ? Is that a Chrysler (Imperial) hemi, d...

The Imperial Roadster...great looking hot rod

While at the 2007 Fresno Autorama (which was a great show) I saw this car on display. It had some really great styling cues that I thought I'd share on this board. It's out of the Reno Area, according to the signboard in front of the car. Anyway, I liked it, and I bet others here will, too... http:/...

Like those Portland signs. Not too many of the old Denny's signs left. The Pig N Pancake is classic, as is the Burgerville.
