I'm a little surprised that no one has posted these, considering what famous MCM artist is in the band: Shag! Plus, he did their cover art. Oddly enough, I knew the music before I knew the artist. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj262/Gnomus_photos/Z%20-%20Not%20My%20Photo/SwampZombies-Fink.jpg ...

WHAT WAS THAT?

I think I should have watched that in 1970 and it would have made perfect sense!

Site Name: Googie Signage

URL: www.myspace.com/googiesignage

Site Author: Me!

What you'll find there: Created when MySpace was popular, you'll see signage galore! I don't frequent the site much anymore. Most of the preservation alerts were learned from here, of course!

If this is the one in Lincoln City, it is not like the old Sambos! It's like it is its "own"... Good food! Kinda with an Applebee's ambiance inside. Lots to look at, I mean.

Interesting! According to the presentation, the sides had already been destroyed. This is the kind of uninformed communication that keeps everyone going around in circles. ARGH!

Thanks for the links. I'll be sure to throw in my concerns! I'd love to see the building preserved. It is a beauty!

*THUD*

Oh my gosh! In 1975, I used to work at the FairVu Drive In in Boise. After work, we often went to this Sambo's and drank coffee and ate french fries! We COVERED them in catsup! LOL

Talk about a blast from the past! I haven't thought of this in decades!

I have a stuffed Sambo and Tiger in my collection of stuff and things :-) My parents wouldn't let me buy one in the restaurant as a kid..so I took care of their oversight a few years ago!

Last year I attended a presentation by a U of O landscape architect regarding this property. According to the presentation, the building is in terrible disrepair. Do you know if the University has any plans on how it can use the building - and be able to restore it to its previous condition?

A friend posed the above question to me and since I haven't been in So. Calif for over a decade, thought I'd take it to the experts!
