Thanks again scowsa - we had a great time in Portland. LOVED Look Modern, and a place called Shag (?) I think. Bought a slat bench at Lounge Lizard and a few other little items along the way.

Where to shop in Portland?

We are going to be in Portland next Sunday and Monday and are wondering if there's a particularly good "MCM" area for shopping. Not looking for a DWR or other new places -- looking more for little vintage shops or antique malls that are known for having at least a few good mcm sections. If...

Looking for recommendations for MCMish shops in Dallas

We were planning on going up tomorrow. I don't know Dallas very well, have only found Lulu B's (which we totally loved) and are looking for other Lulu B's type places.

Any suggestions?

Jerry, Is this house on Sand Dune or Ocean Shores Blvd? We have a little house in O.S. and live for the summers when we can get back there. I'd love to see this great house of yours in person when we get there this summer. It looks so familiar, I'm sure we've rode our bikes past it many times. Love ...

$95 -- Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin danish looking recliner w/original green olive colored upholstery in beautiful condition. When I found it way in the back of this little shop it didn't have a price tag. When I asked the price I had to stop myself from jumping up and down when he said "I'l...

Looks like all may not be well for the Ballard Denny's. Was recently granted landmark status, but it's fate is still in question. (??)

Well, if you've been there since '86, we probably passed each other on campus. My husband went to TESC from 88 - 91. We lived there another couple of years after that. Good times.

Allison, Congratulations on such a great find in Olympia. We lived there for a few years (husband went to Evergreen) and loved it so much. It is the land of the bungalow though isn't it? Amazing that you found such a sweet MCM there. Funny - the comment about "dirty hippy house". Must have...

I know this is an old thread, but I'm wondering if anyone has used the Zodiaq "Cloud White" and has photos or opinions to share. We're about to start a kitchen re-do (cabinets, countertops and backsplash) and all I have is the 2 X 2 inch sample in front of me. Wondering if a larger piece r...

Also, I don't know what this type of table is called either, but I've seen them here and there in MCM books, mags. In fact I think I saw a small version of it (fewer legs, but with the same brass top as mine came with) in the last Atomic Ranch issue -- in the Russel Wright Manitoga home. I found one...

We have this same table base. Ours opens more fully than yours I think - we have a round glass top on it. But SDR is right, we got it from a friend (she was throwing it out on the curb when moving!) and it came with a brass, ornately etched, hammered type top. But I think it's better w/the glass tab...

Thanks for the suggestions. And that's a nice tip, BustownM. about scotch guarding it - would have never thought of doing that, but makes sense. goodieagog: That's true about hanging them at eye level, which is probably why they always seem so right in a dining room. It can hang beautifully above a ...

Where did you hang your Nelson saucer? (or other shape)

My husband got me the med. sized Nelson saucer for Christmas. (Yes, I'm so proud of him! He did GOOD!) Only problem is, I have three rooms I'd love to hang it in. 1. The newly painted and decorated den/office which already has quite a few MCM decoration/furniture pieces in it - so it would look real...

Well, I'm hooked. I DVR'd about 6 eps and waited until this weekend to watch them. I loved it. I'm the exception I guess because I'm really liking the characters and story lines as well as the sets. LightlyStarched, I have the same problem with my friends - they think my love of 50's / 60's style is 'weird'. A friend of mine recently described my (danish mod) style as "art deco". But then, I live in Waco, TX and if it's not huge rolled armed/overstuffed leather sofas or frilly curtain...

Rob, I've always liked the look of (and thought it might be fairly easy to make) a large art piece that is like the Partridge Family bus.
