How to Properly Clean and Restore Yellowed Plastic Cabinet

Last summer, my mother downsized. This month, I'd like to work on cleaning and restoring a plastic cabinet that my mother has had and that I admired as a child. It's labelled as a "Bilumen Sancho" cabinet made by Ambrogio Brusa. It is a white version of what's shown in this image: http://s...

Re-upholstery chairs

A few months ago, someone - I think it was Roger Thornhill - asked me to provide an update on the end results of the re-upholstery of some teak chairs. Here's the background: I had recently bought my house last spring. See: http://www.flickr.com/photos/71774518@N00/4299231140/?rotated=1&cb=12662...

Bill Grierson designed home for sale

Recently, an architectural home in the middle of much older homes have come on the market for the time in its history. It was designed by Bill Grierson. I cannot find any information about him. Would you recognize his name? And/or the style of the home? Here's a few links to the home that's now list...

Let me know what you think? Am I bang on with identifying these homes as MCM? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3530/3805374110_a7bf3fd044.jpg might be OK, though it appears there may be vinyl windows, which may mean other bad remodeling decisions by prior owners http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2256/38...

Thank you for your advice both jakabedy and egads . Here are some of the photos that I took: http://www.flickr.com/photos/71774518@N00/sets/72157621992539244/ There were a few more houses that I wanted to take a picture of, but the houseowners were outdoors working on their gardens, garages, etc. So...

Some MCM architecture in Kingston, Ontario

Yesterday, I had some time to kill, but not enough time to really do anything. So, I decided to take photos of some MCM architecture that I have spotted in Kingston, Ontario, when I used to live there a few years ago. I would like to share them with you, but I'm unsure of how to post pictures on thi...

Beautiful home.

I wish I could have found a home like this to be my first home. Instead, I got what someone here called a MCCC: mid century cape cod.

Enjoy it! Take the time to live in it before deciding what to renovate or restore. It's worth it.

I am not a techie, and I managed to figure it out. I use photobucket to host my photos. Some use flicker, or other sites. Then I set up the blog through blogspot. Photobucket provides the HTML code to be cut-and-pasted into the blog entry. I want to try to tart my blog up a little bit, but I have t...

That's funny. Your blog had me thinking about doing the same thing. However, I don't know how to insert pictures and links in a blog. Is doing that kind of thing relatively easy to learn? And, I'm unsure if I will ever find that many homes to feature on a blog of MCM homes in this neck of the wood.

Looks like it's $84,900. There's a Virtual Tour at the link below, but it's not very good. http://listings.listhub.net/pages/CINCYMLS/1167459/?channel=homescape Is that a good price? Or is that price a reflection of how badly hit the real estate industry has suffered in USA and/or in Ohio? (Sorry, ...

Gees, just burn it down and start over eh! (That's a joke!) As long as the house is nice, it doesn't matter what you do. I lived in a Spanish style bungalow my whole life, but my mother had 1950-60's Scandinavian furniture in it along with REAL Victorian items too: they all worked exceptionally wel...

The one thing that I have noticed is that not many MCM homes are in walkable neighbourhoods, which I highly value. Is this something that you've noticed too? I think that is simply because of where the buildable land was, and the ubiquity of the automobile, at the time MCM architecture came about. ...

a city the size of ontario, I am sure there are more MCM homes. Actually, I live in a small city of about 50,000 people in the southeastern part of the province called Ontario in Canada. I don't live in Ontario, California. I'm not sure what that city is like. I do not suggest tearing this house ap...

Thanks for your replies and compliments. Ha ha, home_boy , I like your comment about how it's MC and perhaps MCCC. The house is definitely in a very nice neighbourhood. Some say that this block that I live on is one of the top two blocks in the community. I sometimes feel lucky to think and to reali...

Is this MCM? If not, then what is it?

I have recently started checking out Lotta Living for the first time in about a year or so. At that time, I was falling in love with MCM and thirsty for information, pictures, etc about MCM, googie, etc. Then, I had hoped that I would buy a MCM home. Now more than a year later, I have purchased my f...

Ah, I see someone did make a posting on this. I saw an article at the travel section at the MSN website. After having read the somewhat negative portrayals of the original one, I thought if people are going to say similar negative comments about the "new" one in a fifty-year time. I wonder...

Canadian Homes magazine

This morning I went to a yard sale at a local theatre that is fundraising for its new round of shows. I picked up four Canadian Homes magazines there. They're all published in 1969. They're very thin magazines with about 20 or 25 pages. I haven't poured over these magazines yet. I was wondering if a...

What is the title of this particular episode?

I checked the tv guide in Canada and it's not showing up on the schedule.

Perhaps with this additional piece of information, I can find out when it's being televised.
