SALE: vintage yard sale, 985 Hyperion, LA, Saturday, July 30

This Saturday we'll be spending a lot of time at a mondo yard sale featuring numerous vendors and stuff galore. 985 Hyperion Ave, LA, CA! Saturday, July 30! My personal contribution is partially a fundraiser for the Museum of Neon Art. I'll be selling neon letters and channel letters in support of t...

Dangit! I wish I could be there to support the nomination for the May Co. parking garage in downtown! That's one of the most stunning parking garages in town, if not one of its most beautiful and petite buildings in general. The nomination is a great idea.

Anybody seen another Richfield angel lately? I'm hoping to track down any others that may have survived the Richfield Building's demo in 1968.

Lemme know!

The only shots I took of the exterior aren't worth sharing. The real interest lies inside the House on the Rock. The place could drive a man to drink, and I certainly would have too if I had known what I was getting into. Although I left exhausted and overwhelmed, I would most definitely return to t...

House on the Rock — Spring Green, Wisconsin

Holy cow, the trip was sooo worth it. The House on the Rock is alive and waiting for you in Wisconsin, just a few hours drive from Chicago. The full-on self-guided walking tour took us about four hours. There were several moments that took me to my knees; truly, they were WTF moments like no other. ...

Restored! This neon and plastic beauty off the 5 fwy in Commerce has been beautifully restored by Michael Flechtner for the company's owner. The neon glows in a soft blue beside the white, die-cut plastic.

Thanks for that location Nichols. I had wondered where that "Liquor" store was. At the back end of a parking lot, I likely never would have found it.

Great movie by the way — I'm proud to say I have a credenza that popped up in the background of the lead's home. Cool!

I was disheartened a few years back when I returned to Inglewood to find that the neon had been completely stripped of the facade of the theater. Wilshire Tower's neon Desmond's and Silverwoods signs

The in-escrow owner of the Wilshire Tower (Desmond's Building) at 5500 Wilshire is desperately trying to find anyone willing to support him in his quest to justify removing the historic neon crown from the Historic Cultural Monument tower. Nevermind that the signs are meritorious and technically a p...
