Looks very impressing. You don't see the curved backlit plastic for film names often, it's usually square.
And '39 is a bit late for Art Deco, ain't it ? I'm not too fluent with the styles, but it doesn't "click" somehow for me.

I understand it's the same station as on this pic ? Then it would really be a shame to loose it. The Headquarters building for Columbia Savings and Loan opened in June, 1965 and was designed by architect Irving D. Shapiro. The "fountain screen" was designed by "Taki." The building was taken over by Southwest Savings and later Wilshire Grace Church. Here are some recent pics...

The real treasure was the Royal Nevada property next door - dating to the 1955 (by Paul Williams - of La Concha and LAX theme bldg. fame). That property was bought out by Stardust and incorporated into their property in 1958, BUT it retained its 1950s low rise motel charm with palm lined pool area ...
