excuse my skepticism, egads, I work in the industry and rarely see it done the old school way anymore. Sad, yes. Understandable, given the dumbing down of my industry and what now passes for professional level work. Here's my site. All shot old school, as you would say-some of it even done with a v...

I like your first choice. We did something similar last year when we added tapered rafters on top of an existing portion of flat roof. This was done to allow space for additional insulation in our case. The framers knocked this out in half a day and the materials cost was minimal in the context of t...

It is a beautiful beautiful shot! Your exposure is so perfect. Thank you for the kind words, M-M. It looks the way it does because the exterior and interior of the house is lit entirely by us. This kind of production is usually reserved for high end projects, but I thought it would work well here, ...

Eichler Photographs

I thought the Lotta Livin' community might like to see an Eichler I photographed for the Orange Plaza Review recently. Here's my favorite image from the shoot. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p200/cruizin31/eichler%20rear%20elevation/eichlerrearelevation_zps3525465e.jpg For the full story, here's...

hung too low and should be filling the void corner to the right of the fireplace.

Not only is it hung wrong, it's a cool blue color in an otherwise
warm toned room. My eye goes straight to it.

Home today is a 950 sq. ft bungalow but it's just the 2 of us + the husky.
Prior to that, we lived aboard a 39' sailboat in Newport harbor for 10
years. Try living in about 50 sq. ft, and you find out fast how much
stuff you don't need.

I'm with you on that. That swag lamp doesn't belong in that room.

soffit lighting

Forget rope lights. Most of the new homes we photograph are
using xenon behind soffits and crown.

Newport Beach City Hall

Chris,
The architect was the local firm of Plager, Blurock, and Hogan. The
Blurock partnership still exists on the Newport Peninsula although
I heard that Bill Blurock is semi-retired now. I grew up in Newport
and know that building well. It's totally MCM.

Hello

Hi,

I've been a long time lurker of this great message board. My back
ground is in photography and my specialty is architecture and
interiors. I like all things modern-particularly buildings.

WTD: retro diner lighting

Hi,
Does anybody know of a good source for retro looking light
fixtures. I'm doing a kitchen remodel and looking for some
cool ceiling fixtures.
