My experience from previous home tours is the ones selected were screened for appropriateness and quality. Besides the homes themselves most of the time the...

shopping in Kansas City?

I am going into Kansas City on business. Looking for any suggestions for mid-century shopping. Am aware of Retro Inferno. Remembered a smaller place just outside of KC near Overland Park but cannot remember the name/location of the shop.

I had driven by the one on San Fernando for years and always seen the "Fried Chicken" sign so one day I decided just to stop and pick up some. For me, nothing to write home about. I was ok, seemed a little dry and the batter was kind of thin. When I was working in Downey on a project several years a...

When I was trying to figure out what designs to considered I referred back to the old Sunset Books. I eventually accumulated a small library via Ebay very inexpensively. The book I found the most helpful for ideas was the
Sunset Book "How to Build Fences and Gates" c. 1951/1955.
Good luck! :D

The name originally was the "Hop Sing Theatre". I grew up in Chinatown and still go there often to have dinner with my parents and my sisters with their families. We grew up with the children of the family that owned the theatre and still see them once in the while. We still have our old house there...

There is one on San Fernando Road in Los Angeles. I think the nearest large cross street is Los Feliz Blvd.
I believe there is a second one on Sepulveda Blvd. near Fox Hills Mall. Don't know the cross streets there.

Call Williams & Son @ cellphone 619-857-2710 asking for Del. They specialize in mid-century modern furniture and sell at the Rose Bowl flea market. They always come across non "pure" sofas of the 70's vintage and sell them cheap. Tell Del his "Travertine" friend gave him a mention.
