The house sold on 7/5/2013 for $230K, under the asking price of $279K.

Here's to hoping it's gotten a new owner who will lovingly and thoughtfully restore it.

Thanks for the post Rob! Yeah, those are my photos at the end there. It's a pretty sad state of affairs, but there are those of us in Sacramento and beyond that grasp to a thread of hope that this house may be "saved". Unfortunately, very few have the funds to dive into this project. It's ...

Hi FuturaGirl, Yes, we are fortunate to have many of Sparks' designs still with us here in Sacramento. Unfortunately Mr. Sparks is no longer with us; having passed in 1996. For more about the man, a good resource is a local Sacramento blog, Eichlerific: http://www.eichlerific.com/2009/11/carter-spar...

I'm interested in some first-hand reconnaissance. Joe, you're being generous in saying the Google Earth pics look a "little rough" -- the place looks pretty dicey.

I can't seem to find many models via Google Street View that have any of the enclosed courtyards or window walls..

Re: decommissioned military base.....

Near the Bay Area, I am guessing maybe even near Sacramento? I recall a cool one near there a few years ago. There's a heck of a lot of creepy/cool vacant mcm connected with military sites. Not to hijack the thread, but here are some photos I snapped of the Capeheart Military Housing just north of ...

We saw that episode too! By the amount of succulent ground cover and cypress trees, I'd wager somewhere by the ocean in Central / Northern California. If I had to guess, I'd say somewhere on Fort Ord / CSU Monterey Bay. Look familiar? http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=fort%20ord%20housing&w=all

I've found the general neighborhood and the "Model Home", yes. It's been a while now, but it seemed fairly run-down with a good variety of chainlink, tarp covered cars in driveways, and lopped trees. There are very few homes of similar interest in the neighborhood. The overwhelming majorit...
