Anyone renovated a kitchen by adding some new cabinets

Our existing cabinets are in good condition and I don't want to mess with them past changing out the pulls. But I do want to remove a wall and add some more cabinets that won't match. The existing are wood grain and I'm thiking of adding the glossy white Ikea cabinets. Has anyone done this? Do you h...

I have no interest in this house, but I thought it was worth sharing. Check out the built in grill in the fireplace!

Sorry I owe you guys an update. But we have been busy, here's proof: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1028/1454933177_52f936a63f.jpg Thank you whoever suggested we stick to lighter colors in an earlier post! We are still undecided on the carport. We are leaning towards a large stoarge shed in the back...

Wow, we have a lot to think about this weekend. Since we moved into this house we've been unable to move forward with any projects and I think partially that's due to the fact that we want to respect how original the house has been kept. We toured an open house 5 or 6 doors down from us last month a...

Thanks for all the ideas.

JA- I love the shed you built, we might still consider that.

In my mind I see it framed out 3' feet behind the leading edge of the roof and with some matching windows across the top.

Keep the ideas coming, I'm still very undecided if you couldn't tell.

We need to close in the carport, but I'm just not sure.

I've resisted this so far, but for many reasons I think we need to close in the garage. First off the yard is small and building a workshop in it would only make it smaller. Second the washer/dryer are on the other side of the carport and my neighbors are tired of seeing me in my PJs. Here is the ho...

Re: Another possible resource...

We love Tampa history. That's a great site, thanks so much. Tthe USF library has an online architecture archive with quite a few modern homes... "Sape A. Zysltra Architectural Slides Collection" The site is a bit of pain but there are nice, hi-res examples with notations and multiple angle...

Thanks for the info and pictures. I'll order the book. It does appear that they are doing a very nice job with the Horizon house. I'll post pictures once we get a new camera (last one went for a swim). Hi tampaChrissie ... I just finished reading "Florida Modern" and it's a great resource ...

Florida Modern Anyone have this book?

I just found at that one of the homes in our neighborhood (Horizon House) which is being restored was featured in the book. Before I order the book I was hoping to hear some reviews, anyone?

Replacing Windows

I'm not positive the windows in our house now are original. Either way they don't seal well and we are considering replacing them. Most of the homes in my neighborhood have had white framed replacement windows which just don't look right to me. Are silver frame windows available? What are your thoug...

I would agree with you, but many homes in our 'hood, Org. Carrollwood, have them. It's actually just a piece of plywood with quarter round under those windows. I think full length windows were an upgrade as some homes to have them. Either way those panels under those 3 windows are going to be replac...

By larger do you mean one solid window instead of 3 or taller? The three top windows are original I'm pretty sure so I think one window under them would have looked funny. I had not thought of jalousies you might be on to something. Those windows open to the Florida room so that really makes sense. ...

Thank you for the ideas.

I had favored keeping the body of the house white before my husband convinced me otherwise. I think we'll revisit that conversation.

I've done some searching and really like these colors:

Paint our house

Summer heat won't stop us or will it? Either way we want to decide on paint colors for the exterior of our new house. I was thinking greys with a green (lime-ish) door, but I'm really not sure. Outdoor Wall Art

I'm not having any luck finding outdoor wall art. I want something for the side of our carport or our front brick wall. I'm thinking a metal sculpture pattern piece or a peacock. Many of the homes in my neighborhood have them, but I think they're all original. I keep checking Ebay, but no luck. Any ...

Thank you for the pictures, you gave me some good ideas for when we get around to painting. Currently the under part of our roof and the eaves are the same color, I love the way you defined them. Is that a new coil cooktop? Did you decide on that over a flat surface for the look? I'm debating this d...

Anyone tried to clean a Howard Miller Bubble lamp?

We were lucky enough to get a Howard Miller Bubble lamp with our new house, but it's in need of cleaning. Anyone done this? What is the bubble material?
Thanks in advance.
