House number recs for an Eichler

We just finished remodeling our 5 br Eichler and now we're down to that last, nasty 20% of details. We previously had some house numbers on the front and I had them removed so we could 'update' the look. I've seen the LED numbers on Chiasso, some simple numbers at Home Depot, and the numbers at Eich...

I didn't know you could wax it. Our concrete floors were just ground and sealed. Our guy told us that we don't need to do much more than clean it w/ water. The dual coat sealing pretty much protects the floor. The first coat penetrated and wasn't shiny. The second coat brought out a very nice sheen.

Curious how this goes. We're remodeling our A frame Eichler and were looking at cork floors, something our architect recommended when we started the project 2 years ago. Now, they don't recommend it because of the warranty issues people have with it and the durability of the floor. We opted to go wi...

Eames LCW shock mount repair

I just got a recent model LCW chair used. One of the mounts is starting to come off the back. It appears that it needs to be reglued.

I saw this a shockmount glue kit on ebay but it's not for the original mounts.

Does anyone know how/what kind of glue I can use to repair this?

Call to action!! Save this Eichler from a spec builder!!!

I sending out a call for help. I live in Menlo Park, CA. I moved into my current house in 2007. It is a 5 br Eichler built on a mini cul de sac of 3 similar Eichlers. In our neighborhood, we have the typical atrocities of McMansion remodels consisting of 3 story 'Craftsman' homes, Tuscan Villas, and...

Source for tall aluminum Christmas tree?

We're doing our part to be as 'green' as possible.

I've always preferred real trees, it's just traditional. But now I'm looking into an aluminum tree to fit the style of our Eichler.

Does anyone have suggestions for online sources to buy? I'm trying to find one 7' or taller.

On Beyond the Box on HGTV, they showed a family that used hospital curtain tracks installed flush in the ceiling. Then they just took bolts of fabric and finished the ends. It came out really well IMHO.

We're in the feature article of CA Modern!

There was a call on Eichler Network for colorful homes. Ours (first 2 pix) fit the requirement and they asked to use our house for the article.

You could use Sonos or Logitech, but you still need to provide your own speakers. The Sonos is great (I set it up for someone) but it can't play iTunes purchased files because of DRM. http://www.sonos.com/products/?tref=ghome http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/wireless_music_systems/de...

You said no wireless

And I would agree, don't go the route of using wireless speakers that operate at 900 MHz. I work in the wireless business and NONE of those types of solutions work at all. However, you should consider the suggestion of using Airport Expresses and Airtunes. See http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/fea...

That could work if I repainted the girder black. No have I go check if there's mounting possibilities.

Thanks.

Solar panels on an Eichler

We have a Eichler in Menlo Park with an 18 yr old roof. After this past winter, we found quite a few leaks. (We've owned the house since last July.) We are in the process of finalizing our new roof plans and hope to get permits soon. (We are keeping the flat roof and adding vertical space for all ne...

MCM signpost?

We live on a private cul de sac of 3 Eichlers, all similar designs. On the street entrance, we have a simple steel girder w/ house numbers designated by stickers. We want to replace it to make it more visible. One of the owners suggested a signpost that's more geared toward East Coast cottage style....

My tree needs a new skirt and thought it might be nice to have one that fits our "new" Eichler. Suggestions?

Furniture is in. Still sparse, happens when you move from a smaller house to a bigger one.

My vintage furniture hunt continues.

We're probably going to have some architects create some initial plans to at least change the doors and drawer fronts. That could be a decent temp solution. If you're content with the arrangement of the kitchen, new doors and drawer fronts don't have to be a temporary solution. They can be THE solu...

Looking for plans of my 5 br Eichler

I've searched some other sites (http://www.eichlersocal.com/floorplans/FPindex1.htm) but I can't find plans for my 5 br Eichler in Menlo Park.

Ours has a 2 car garage and the Master/Den are opposite the other 3 bedrooms and kitchen.

Any suggestions? Apparently it was built during the early 70's.
