Nice! My home is also a BH&G plan: one of the "Better Homes for All America." I have yet to run across another one like it. Several years back I was in a retro store that was going out of business and my hubby and I sat down and paged through Every. Single. Copy. of BH&G that they ...

robb - I snapped a couple of photos of our carport arrangement, and did some quick measurements. So I'll comment on measurements, too (although I'm not sure what your measurements are). Our storage closet is just over 17.5' across, and the closet is about 39" deep, with the framing of the front...

I like the flat-appearing hipped roof the best. I think the pronounced slope roof looked like it was trying too hard. Our houses are similar in that they comprise one long ridge with gabled ends. Our carport is integrated, like your existing garage. But rather than open onto the gabled end, it opens...

Scored fab Alma office furniture

I really can't believe my luck. My Craigslist is often pretty dismal, so I find myself searching in Atlanta in hope of finding something fabulous for my office. Tomorrow at dawn's early crack I shall be on my way to the ATL, trailer in tow, to pick up these beauties. I thought I was going to have to...

That is NOT an Eames chair, you idjit!

DH's '72 Karmann Ghia. I know '72 is a little late, but the design is from the '50s, so I bootstrapped it into the era. 29K original miles, original Willow Green paint. Birmingham, AL - BH&G 1955 Idea Home

THis is the Hugh Stubbins design that was built in communities all across the US. It was in an estate a year or so ago and there have been some changes made that wouldn't have been my personal choice, but . . . still a great house in a great location for $209,900. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y1...

I have glass doors like that and I like them. But mine are adjacent to full window walls rather than brick, so maybe it makes more sense in my case. That being said, I don't have a problem with you wanting more light and more view into and out of your home. But I'm afraid there could be a clashing i...

The mini-facelift: I agree with those of you who said you liked the original color better. The big facelift: Just not buying it. The color is maybe OK. And I like the idea of the deck, but I agree that maybe a bench wall or planter would have worked well at the perimeter. And . . . a painted deck? T...
