My gut says white. However, this is a big job. Would you consider buying a box of each color, laying them out side by side and just living with it for a week or two? I know it seems odd but for the extra cost of a box or two of tile, which could be used elsewhere, you may be surprised by the ...

Stop with all the renovations. You keep making me more jealous. :) I do not want to live in Ohio but your home makes a strong argument…Argh… ***

You are so fortunate to find such a gem and I suspect the neighborhood is even better than the building, Congratulations.

Half price, Sign me up. :) I have signed rental agreements for places that showed worse than this house. I may be a bit jaded having completed a few major refurbishing and remodels, but what I saw was fine; especially if, the client asked for a fixer upper. Like minded buyer meets realistic...

WOW! The power of language is astounding. I do not get it. I am offended by the appraiser’s lack of discretion. An appraisal can stop an otherwise solid loan. The opinion could have been addressed equally as clearly by using a more neutral statement: Perhaps, "While the structure is unique to t...

Ryan, take your time and get some reference books. Spend time with the books and become familiar with the shapes, colors and styles that you like. There are thousands of non iconic pieces from the mid-century period that will work equally as well as the obvious choices and at a fraction of the cost....

Welcome Home

Wow, that is a huge kitchen for a MCM house. I do not mind the brick floor in the kitchen And I Love the curb appeal. What a terrific shape and asymetric feel. Now to fill it up with cool stuff and wonder how you lived so long with out it. Is there any music :d: history for your neighborhood? Memphi...

Modern R Us

Dan plan a day for St. Petersburg. There are several mid century shops downtown along Central Avenue spread out over about 4 blocks. The pricing has always been fair and with the economy in the shape it is now I am sure the prices are more flexible. While you are working up an appetite (my Favorite ...

color adds life

Wow, that is a tall order. Without knowing anything about your preferences and style I would not hazard a guess. Having said that I will suggest you begin by going to your local library and checking out some books on houses, architecture and design. The Atomic Ranch book and Modernism Rediscovered b...

Don't look up

I had to hide a ceiling that had been badly termite damaged and faced the same dilemma. I used door skins that I trimmed to a module of 30x30 inch squares which just happened to fit the area I needed to cover. After a light stain I laid them out on the floor to dry and determine the best position fo...

What a Terrific Space!

I just had to chime in and wish you well on acquiring your new home. :D I sometimes am envious, but I realize that I am always thankful when a great home finds worthy owners who not only appreciate but truly understand what they have. I have not yet lived in an architect designed home but I have tou...

I want history Now

It is my belief that multi-faceted roofs were intended to make new tract housing resemble older established neighborhoods where each house had been altered over a long period of time. Each alteration or addition changed the appearance of the house from the street. The effect created unique neighborh...

By all means knock on the door and say hello. Weather it is a specific house you like or simply to find out about a neighborhood, talk with the people who live there. WOW what a treat

Those photos were like a sinfully indulgent piece of candy. YUMMY. As an old car aficionado the analogy is very accurate and close to my heart. I would love to have taken that home for a test drive. My place, a simple ranch style house, was built in 1956. I purchased it from the original owner’s s...

WOW ! I LOVE it! We recently had a dog adopt us; and now, a fence would be a welcome way to keep the neighbors smiling at us as I walk past. But, I despise the affordable off the shelf options.
