Concord, CA - Atrium Eichler... $370K NOT a foreclosure

Our neighbor directly across the street is selling so he can retire in Mexico. I think he and his wife moved in in the mid-1980s and I believe they were the second owners. It's been pretty well maintained overall and has good bones. Four bedroom, two bath, two car garage, same model as ours. Here's ...

Concord, CA - Atrium Eichler... $250K!!!!!!!

I really hope someone buys it who appreciates how original it is! It's a foreclosure in our neighborhood. It's been vacant for a while and was just recently listed. What a find!!!! Needs some work but for $250K imagine what you could do with it. Rancho Del Diablo is a great, tight-knit Eichler neigh...

Thanks everyone! We had some orange sheets once but they were more of a terra cotta orange than an orange-orange. We got them from The Company Store. Our front door was originally going to be orange but we decided to change it up and go with the yellow. I wasn't sure at first because I'm such a oran...

Here's another one...haven't been inside yet (husband's got an appointment to do that tomorrow) but all the contact info for the real estate agent is in this post. I'm sure once he gets in he'll add some interior photos to the blog as well. http://redneckmodern.typepad.com/redneckmodern/2010/10/eich...

What to do with this Evelyn Ackerman Wall Hanging-Rug Thing

Hello all, I scored this at a thrift store yesterday. It's in great shape except that the binding has come loose around the edge. I guess you wouldn't really call it binding...basically the fabric edge was folded back on itself around the back and glued in place. Over time the glue has come loose. A...

We just had our completely flat roof redone in July. We had the original tar and gravel, and then multiple layers of rolled roofing over that. We tore everything off down to the decking (which was in surprisingly good shape), installed a one inch thick poly-iso board, and then a 60 mil white TPO me...

We had a very very similar situation in our Eichler. A domestic water line leak that was dumping into the side yard. We ended up doing the epoxy thing for the leaking pipe: http://redneckmodern.typepad.com/redneckmodern/2009/03/epipe.html I'm sure he'll chime in but the husband has a lot of informat...

There's also the vintage section www.etsy.com

Not as expansive as ebay but sometimes you can find some good deals. If nothing else it's just fun to look. There are also MCM-inspired handmade furniture pieces that might suit your needs.

I work in commercial real estate. I've never installed one but I have been on several single ply PVC roofs. Overall they hold up well. With single ply membranes it's all about the quality of the installation...making sure that the seams and penetrations are done properly. I think it would be a reall...

Teak cart - Poul Hundevad?

Hello! We picked up a cart this weekend at the Alameda Antique Fair that looks identical to this one except in teak: http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture_item_detail.php?id=83906 It's neat - you expand the top by sliding the top tray to the side and locking the bottom tray in next to it. It's not marked...

Hi! I kept our light switches when we replaced them all during our renovation. I've got 10 tan ones and 5 brown ones. They worked when we removed them so I don't see why they wouldn't work now. They definitely need to be cleaned up - the previous owners of the house were sloppy painters and they are...

MCM BBQ

I did a search and didn't find anything so..... We are throwing a barbecue near the end of October. The plan is for it to be a '50s/'60s style barbecue. I've got the music sorted out and thanks to several midcentury cookbooks I've got a good idea of the food, too. Now I need to figure out the decora...

Concord, CA - Another Atrium Eichler Foreclosure $395,000

Another foreclosure in our lovely little Rancho del Diablo neighborhood. Didn't make it to the open house so I only have the craigslist ad. The exterior on this one has been unfortunately stuccoed (why do people do that????) and it looks like the atrium has been enclosed. But, it's a great floor pla...

Concord, CA - House with potential for $219,900

Looks like it had a serious Home Depot "renovation" job done to it but for that price you could tear that business out and have yourself a cute little MCM house. Definitely NOT an Eichler as advertised (I emailed the agent to let them know in case they haven't figured it out already) but s...

CL: Modern Sofa and Leather Chair - SOFA SOLD

Both pieces have nice, simple, modern lines and would work well in most any decor. We love them but they just don't fit in the den. If transporting is a problem we have a pickup truck and can provide delivery in the San Francisco Bay Area.
