Well, another year passed by without really starting to build our new generation Mod pad, but it was a productive year. Here are a couple new photos of the work we had done this fall. We were able to secure a permit and have the shoreline done with rip wrap. (sp) The water is very low this time of y...

Nice building. I like the glass. Yes we have a 3 Menards and a Home Depot within 10 miles. Here's my idea. Treated wood frame on post blocks with treated or composite deck. Something like 10' X 10' in size should do. A framework built from 1" square tubing. Three corner posts constructed of sev...

The building will be in a wooded area and shaded some of the time. As long as I don't build it on a perminent foundation I don't need to get a permit. I really like the Polygal green color! Wow! I'm going to see if I can locate a supplier local to me. (MN) This could be cost prohibitive for this sum...

Thanks all! Nice posts! I like the shed roof idea. I like the green house glass or the corregated panels for the roof. Maybe more overhang. I have a couple ideas now. I'll post pics when I get something built.

New Question; Anyone have a pic of a modern gazebo?

We have been working on our lake lot in preperation of the construction of our version of a Butterfly. We won't start construction for a couple year. We have two kids in college and a big victorian to detail and sell first. So, I thought it would be fun to build a gazebo or screen house out building...

We came out to attend the WCR 09. We started in Ervine and ended up in Lancaster at the Street of Willow. About 40 914's. The car closest in the photo is my friend John's car. He has a 6. I built my car. I have a 928 V8! The timing belt change must be loads of fun in the 914 engine bay. My m...

I guess their changing some laws next year that will restrict the type of installation we will be allowed to have installed. Were hoping the soi...

Well, that is something to consider. However, I was told the plans would come with an engineers stamp. I will read the link you posted thanks. Edit: I just gave the link a speed read. I understand I will need an engineer stamp for the footings. I also may need to have core soil samples taken to test...

When I was 18 I worked for a place that did this. (32 yrs ago oy!) We built floor panels, wall panels and roof panels. Most of the places were split entrys with vaulted livingrooms. Not my cup-o-tea. But the point is, we built the walls including wiring, insulation and sheet rock. The bathroom...

We were thinking of placing a detached garage on the lot first. I drew this schetch of an idea I had. I really don't have to tell you that I can't draw. You can see that for your selves. :P But if I could I would draw a nice version of this. The low windows are actually part of the second floor. The...

I know you're on a budget. But I see you're in Duluth and one of my favorite architecture firms is located in Minneapolis. SALA Architects They probably aren't cheap (on the MN AIA home tour this year something like 6 of the 29 houses are theirs) but they have done smaller projects and I think with...

Luther, Thanks for the links. I really like the sample you posted. I have a couple of restrictions. The house has to be 100' from the high water mark. With the creek running behind the house I have about 40' maximum for depth and about 70' including the attached garage. I'll check some of those stoc...

Thanks all, I'm new here. I checked with one architect locally. He can recommended by a friend in the trades. His estimate was about a 1/3 of the cost of the project. Ouch! I have a floor plan drawn out and could use a draftsman to help with an accurate blue print and details I guess. I'll check the...
