Megan Draper had a decorator. At least Rebecca Pryce implied that she did by asking for the name of her decorator. So you can blame that fictional character. I personally don't like it either. It's an eyesore from the Liberace house of crap.

I was never able to find it

I searched for a long time for piping for the same chairs, and I could never find the original stuff. The best I found was upholstery piping that came from an auto upholsterer, but it didn't look right, so I gave up. Were the chairs stacked on each other? Mine were, and that's how the piping got mes...

Thanks Futura! And yes, that would be my daughter's rebounder in the photo. She likes to jump on it while she watches cartoons. I figure it's better than sitting on her butt... Well, we're going for it. Here are some in-progress photos. I'll post some of the final product soon. http://farm8.staticfl...

I'll check out the ardex. I went to Lowe's tonight and bought a small amount of this ready mix concrete patch from DAP: http://www.dap.com/product_details.aspx?product_id=125 I'm going to give it a try tomorrow and see how it does. I also bought some Valspar floor paint and will give that a try. I'v...

Reparing (and re-painting?) our concrete floor

We had to tear out our carpet because I nearly flooded the living room by breaking a pipe. We discovered a 2' x 3' grid of finished concrete that we absolutely love. I now want to repair the divots from the tack strips and restore the floor. There are some cracks that need repair as well. The floor ...

I'm not an expert, but it looks like chairs that I've seen advertised as early Jens Risom for Knoll designs:

It's a cool chair.

Here's a picture of our current kitchen. Again, sorry for the bad iphone picture. Panton-ite, the inside of our cabinets are a similar color. It matched the original formica counters, which are still in the laundry room.

Panton-ite, your kitchen is amazing. I love the wood finger pulls. They look very Danish to me. I also really like the wood edging on your countertops. Futura girl, what is that area with the metal ring between the butcher block/cutting board and the sink in your Eichler? In our last home, we put in...

Dani,

I googled it and you're right, it is very similar. The one I really like is the first pic of the built in. I thought maybe it was a Britannia from my google image searches, but it's not quite the same.

I just looked a bit at turbochef. Are they all stand-alone ovens or do they also make built-ins? Which one do you like? I like this vintage thermador model. I might go with it unless I can find a newer one that I like. Problem is that I'd have to rebuild the cabinets to fit it. I'm also a bit unsure...

What brand of appliances are these?

Saw these ovens in a Sunset book from 2003. Anyone know what brand they are? I like them because they have a 1950s quality to them. I don't like most newer ovens. http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/5444/modernoven1.jpg http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/2650/modernoven2.jpg http://img268.imageshack....

Yes!! That makes sense, since I bought them both at an estate sale with a bedroom set that was Glenn of California. I don't know why that never clicked before. I saw them advertised as Arthur Elrod and stopped at that. Thanks! http://amsterdammodern.com/search-product/1666-PAIR-OF-MILO-BAUGHMAN-TEAK...

Our living room set

This is the set we have in our living room. I recently saw the end table in a store and the owner had it advertised as an Arthur Elrod design. I sent pictures to a guy who owns a store in Palm Springs and has quite a few Elrod pieces, and he didn't think so. Anyone know? http://img813.imageshack.us/...

Anyone know what model Thermador this is?

This is the Thermador wall oven that we've decided to try to find for our kitchen. But I can't figure out what model it is. I know that the well known models are the WO-16A and WO-18A. Is it one of those? I'm trying to figure out the model number so I can track one down. Thanks, Tim http://retroreno...

Anyone recognize this range?

This nice renovation was mentioned in another thread. I really like the range and it looks like it would be a nice replacement for the ugly one I have. I like that it looks built in - is it a "drop in?". You can't see very much of it but I wondered if anyone recognized it so I could try to...

It is the sheet Marmoleum. So it sounds like having the 1/4 plywood is a bigger deal than I realized. My gut told me to go with the company that recommended it anyway. I may have to have them do a partial job so we can fit it into our budget, then finish the job later.

Advice on 2 estimates for Marmoleum

We're pricing marmoleum for a modern home built in 1954 that we just bought. The house is 3000 square feet and we're looking to cover about 1/3 to 1/2 of the house in Marmoleum. I got 2 quotes from local flooring companies and can't decide between the 2. I found these companies on the Marmoleum webs...

Guys, They're definitely flexible. I'm not sure if they're original. My architect friend is actually the original architect of the house (he's 90 years old and going strong!). His name is Clare Day. He's a fellow of the FAIA (as I understand it, the only one in my area) and as I see it, vastly under...
