eBay: Funky Chunky Swag Lamp for sale

If this lamp were blue instead of orange, it would have a home here. Being in Knoxville, TN, orange is a hard color to decorate with. I love this lamp, but, I am letting it go. The Ebay Auction is HERE. Nigh perfect condition. It even had a 75 watt bulb in it when I bought it and no ill effects. It ...

I think 80% of Florida houses were built in in the 1950s. It pains me to drive around the neighborhoods along the eastern coast. One incredible house after another. Even the trailer parks are cool! MCM is everywhere there, but of course, even more quickly dissappearing as development comes along. Af...

It sounds like I would suggest Nicola Conte to you. Modern and retro all in one, and very peppy and even dancable, with a latin feel.

Awesome modern home on Fox TV show "24"

I loved this show's first season or so, and started watching again this season. A real treat this year is the President's house. It is easily the most outstanding modern design home I have ever seen. The doors, the furniture, lights, curtains, everything is incredible. And it's the President's place...

Free Lustron Homes for all!

Check on the military base rebuild. They are wiping out an entire Lustorn neighborhood and giving away the houses to anyone who will haul them off! Got a manual on how to assemble one? Would be gold to these folks.

Converting electric wall clocks to battery power

I thought I had seen kits for this, but my search of the Net comes up empty/ Anyone know a source for this? I can't have the cord on my kitchen clocks running all down the walls. It just ruins the look!

One thing that is hammered into me from everyone from present and former owners, to bankers, is that the restaurant/bar biz is hard. I figure I am getting one shot at this and with someone else capital (capitol?) and so I am trying to cover every aspect. I am an over-thinker anyway, but I am really ...

I have a lot of faith in the tiki bar done right. I have a lot of marketing planned into the business plan already. I have an extensive network if friends locally and worlwide that I can count on to get the word out. Tapas is the trend of late and I plan to do "Hawaiian Tapas" rather than pupus. Sam...

I am in the process of trying to open my own tiki bar, The Headhunter Lounge in TN and one of the people I have asked for advice says "If it failed in Vegas, what makes you think it will succeed in TN?" That was tough. The best answer I had was that they were a tiki bar in look only. Bad drinks, ba...

Nancy, I use all my vintage stuff. Glasses, plates and even some tiki mugs. I lose a few. I broke a Hazel pink elephant jigger just this week, but, I enjoy it that way and at $1-3 per glass, it's not a huge thing I guess. I just don't want to doom all my vintage glasses to an early death in the hars...

I have found a Majestic lamp!

The, Holy, Grail. I am probably like many of you and have a lamp fetish. I recall a time when I had 14 lamps in my living room, and it was still dark! Nothing over 25 watts please. All vintage of course. And the one I have coveted is a Majestic. They sell on Ebay for $250+ of course. Oh, you might s...

Lustron, where art thou?

I had a lady here in Knoxville write me about my site and ask me if I had seen the Lustron homes in the area. I didn't know what she was talking about. She sent me this site and then told me where one was. I instantly knew the house she meant and it was 2 minutes from my home. I knew it because of t...
