an update: BAVINGER HOUSE UPDATE - We have confirmation from Bob himself today that the roof has indeed collapsed and is now sitting on the first floor. The rock walls are in good shape, though. He's currently putting together a blog that he says will answer everyone's questions -- it should be done...

MCM is just another stylistic name given to a certain period of "Modernism". These are modern homes...are they an homage to 50's modernism? I don't think so, I just think they are modern homes.

I am a fan of counter tops that incorporate only one material/surface/color. Banded counter tops seem a bit busy in the overall vision.

I love laminates, you might check with Kerf and see what type of laminates they use for their millwork.

I also highly recommend Corian.

I left the baffle off of the 4 inch cans I put in my soffit. I just cut the hole the exact diameter of the can before the lip and then painted right over the 1/4 lip that is usually covered by the baffle. It looks exactly the way I wanted it, like a hole in the soffit with light in it.

The last two posts are the same house. The neighborhood definitely isn't a solid block of modern homes, but there are quite a few nice ones in the bunch including apparently and all concrete Cliff May house.

yeah i guess i was just pointing out that it was historically factual to call them New England. Not that matters really to original point of the post. Why are we talking about New England again.
