Up for sale is a 1950's freeform sofa set, including sofa and sofa chair. Usually, known as the "cloud sofa," this set was reupholstered in 2007 in a two-tone style that was similar to the original. It is covered in tan, nubby fabric with tan and black nubby accents and trimmed in black b...

I think the plant you have will look great once it cascades down. Or another that is more split leaf like. I am in no way a green thumb. LOL! That plant just keeps growing tall and then the leaves eventually fold down and curl in...not normal for it. I have a split leaf philodendron that was given ...

Re: Yup

I think there is a small tract of em in Montclair. I think in the vicinty of Fremont between that and Monte Vista S. of San Bernardino Rd. A google street view seem to show they are Cliff Mays or very good ripoffs. I wonder if the city would have building permits for those homes on record still. Th...

Yes, not cluttered. No, your Princess phone and a rack of highball glasses on a tray go on the bottom shelf. Here is a link to some Blenko collections displays. http://www.blenkocollectors.com/blenkocollections.htm If you register, you can see some fab collections displayed, and mod interior...

These are all good ideas and appreciate them. Thanks! The thing is not to clutter it up, right? So how many pieces per shelf? Should I leave the bottom shelf clear?

How MCM was my house

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/dk1964/001-2.jpg I wanted to post a picture of the MCM home I grew up in as a small child in Montclair, CA. I remember it being small with two bedrooms and a bathroom. Since then, it has been stuccoed over and the windows at top have been filled in. Also, there...

Need help on what to put on my room divider shelves.

I have a built in room divider between living room and dining room and am having trouble on deciding what would look good on the shelves. So any suggestions would be great...maybe some pics giving an example, too. Thanks! http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/dk1964/001-1.jpg http://i6.photobucket....

Roger, I have always felt that white was a boring color when used by itself. Too much white can look too sanitary and give a cold feeling. I'm a color person and like to harmonize my colors so that they compliment one another, especially cool colors like greens, grays and blues. I am no means an in...

Some ideas for the living room

Brian...looks like you have something to work with. Even though it's not an MCM home, it can be made to look so. I was studying the living room shot and definately could see that it looks too closed in. Also, those Taj Mahal doorways need to go as well as opening up that opening between the kitchen...

Well, a Mirror comes to mind. As a matter of fact, with your finishing skills, you could do a frame really nice. Also look into some "Chinese Modern" or "Hollywood Regency" stuff. As an aside, when the Panther became passé at my mother's house it got placed on the garage roof ri...

LOVE YOUR PAD! That sectional sofa is awesome. Thanks. The sofas I got off of ebay a few years back, but were really shot and had black and white vinyl. I found a nubby-style material and used to black barkcloth to make a two-toned combination. Ironically, I just found another matching pair of Crai...

Re: niiiice place!

I think everything looks great. I love that 'mental hospital green' as a foundation, too. Nice kitchen, and your lamp is fab. You have some really good pieces-the shadow box is particularly nice. I love what you've done with the valance and curtains. There is some dimensionality there which is good...

We have the panther from this series, but I've never seen another one. You've done a great job with this place, all the details are terrific! I love the valance you made. Is that ash? Did you do the cerused finish using white wax, I'd be interested in knowing how to achieve it. The kitchen and appl...

Looking for wall hangings for my 1950's furnished condo

Hi everyone...new here. Was referred to this site and looks like a cool source for mid-century furniture and accessories from what I can see, so far. Anyway, looking for some cool wall hangings like pictures with trapezoid frames made from etchwood, if that makes sense. I have some already, bit loo...
