Anyone with a low voltage system ( I have Remcon) looked into Verve control system? I think we are going to go with it. It gets rid of all the relays and switches. It is wireless and can be programmed to turn off/on multiple lights from each switch like our low voltage system.

MCM minded interior designer or architect needed in Dallas

I'm looking for an interior designer or architect in the Dallas area to help us achieve a retro-futuristic vision for our MCM house. Need someone creative, with knowledge of 60's design. We need a little bit of everything as we are about to start our 2nd phase of remodel. Architectural design work, ...

Update: We're about to tear out the kitchen now. Still planning on placing window in place of where backsplash will be on back wall. See 2 exterior pics about half way down my previous post to see exterior wall of kitchen where glass will go (glass will span almost from corner to corner) We've moved...

Metal (or wood) screen dividers

Anyone have any interior pictures of vintage perforated metal screen room dividers. Doesn't have to technically divide a room, it could only be decorative. Looking for some cool patterns or ideas to fabricate something for our house. Would like to add 2 screens along the edge of our sunken living ro...

Here's the kitchen and back of kitchen from exterior view. We are thinking of adding a 10'x2' window on the back wall where the backsplash would normally be located. We could then see out to the sideyard where the kids actually play. Sent email, Re-Modern http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4099/47695470...

Need creative ideas for our small kitchen

The time has come to start our kitchen remodel. Since our last post we removed a L-shaped wetbar and a brick pony wall that surrounded the stove (we are stoveless right now). Thought I wanted to keep brick wall but now that it's gone I think it's much better. We would like the kitchen to be unique a...

Outdoor post lights-any mod options?

We'd like to replace our outdoor post light in our front yard. Has anyone come across any that would compliment a MCM home. Thanks

I was browsing Ebay and noticed that someone is selling pictures of Eichler front doors and the house with the cool blue door, that I'm trying to find the name of the paint color of, is the main picture for the auction. I also like the window blinds next to the door. Can anyone tell what those might...

Finding that just right blue-green paint color

Just returned from a trip to LA/Palm Springs and am trying to find that nice blue with touch of green color that I saw many front doors painted with. The best example was an Eichler house on Jimeno, maybe 4 houses or so before hitting Westbury, on East side of street. It was located in Balboa Highla...

I like the ceiling but it's just dirty looking especially with all our new paint etc. I'm hoping someone...

I'm kinda having trouble deciding on interior paint color for the wood surrounding the large banks of windows, trim and interior doors. Is there a rule of thumb on this to keep within the mcm aesthetic? We are basically getting rid of all the brown in the house, including the cheapo paneling. We are...

Here's some more pics that show the kitchen/wetbar. Egads, I think we're heading back towards carpet on the upper living spaces. We've made the loop with all kinds of flooring options but each seems risky. I didn't initially want carpet back in there because I'd just pulled a house full of nasty car...

Carpet options?

As we consider options for our new flooring, could anyone recommend a brand or carpet line that would fit in an MCM home. I don't know much about carpet but we know we'd like a medium gray color, possibly with a touch of blue to it, and would like it extremely short. Don't want any wild patterns, ju...

I have same questions and concerns. We're leaning towards Azrock Solid Vinyl Tile. How does it rate against the classic VCT? Azrock is great about sending out full size tiles. They sent me a 15lb box of samples for free. The Solidair and Karim lines look good in person if you haven't seen them, plus...

Thanks so much for the kind words mycysco. I'm not sure if it is any consolation but we actually contacted the previous owner 4 months ago and made an offer that she accepted and that caused her to decide to move out. We're kinda leaning more towards a remodel that would fit with furnishing from the late 60's/early 70's space age, lots of plastic, bold colors, Panton type design, etc. A retro futuristic look would be the best way to describe what we like. I'm not too into wood and am not sure I want to even keep ...

Brainstorm session-need creative ideas for our MCM house

We finally got a unique MCM house after searching high and low for several years. We love it and are excited to see what we can do with it now. After reading creative ideas on the forum for years we would appreciate hearing any cool ideas members may have about our house. It's a quirky house and we ...
