Rare Sori Yanagi items available

For serious collectors I have the following items to offer: A black Elephant footstool manufactured for Habitat -no longer in production. This is glossy fiberglass (as original design), unlike the current Vitra version which is injection-molded plastic. I also have 2 of Yanagi's rare sake/soy vesse...

You can use 'flickr' or similar websites on which you can use to post your photos. Most of these sites are free to set up an account. It is an easy way to share photos.

Great Mod Suits

If you are looking for a 60's mod look, I highly recommend http://www.thickasthievesla.com They have a strong grasp of the modernist aesthetic corcerning mens clothing. The style is based on what they would like to be able to find in the suits they personally wear. You get the authentic look, not an...

Scooters+ eBay=Big mistake

Buying a scooter on eBay is definitely asking for trouble. Lots of Asian scooters with botched restorations. I have a friend with a scooter shop and have seen the condition of some of these scooters that people bring in for repair. Deifinitely stay away. Check out scooterbbs.com and you can read som...

A scooterless summer.....

After having a Lambretta for years, I just spent my summer without a scooter. I didn't think I would miss it that much. However, I am thinking about getting another scooter before next summer. Living in Toronto isn't the best place for a scooter fan, but it doesn't seem to hamper your enthusiasm. It...

Is it possible to 'restore' Krenit bowls?

I recently picked up a set of Krenit bowls (1 very large and 6 smaller). The bowls have the expected chips along the rim, but the outside of the bowls, which were originally black when manufactured, have the appearance of 'smudges' causing an uneven grey/black finish. I have seen this on many other ...

Re:Bertoia seat pads

I found a site that sells Bertoia seat pads. They only sell the one-piece seat pad. Unfortunately, that isn't what I was looking for, but it may be of some help to others.
www.bertoiapads.com

p.s. they also make bikini seat pads for Eames DKR, just follow the link from the site.

I am also considering doing some walls in my house with wood paneling. Could someone explain how the basic installation is done? Do you just nail the ply right to the wall? Do you stain it all first and then hang it? I know absolutely nothing about this, but dang i love modernist wood paneling! Yes...

Re:Best price

Having worked as a midcentury dealer for several years I thought I would throw in my two cents. It is extremely common for people to haggle for a better price. The way that works best for the seller and the buyer is to just simply ask "what is your best price on this". There is always some...

Bertoia wire chairs do not seem to be selling well at this moment. I have been watching ebay auctions and they seem to be selling at a very low price. A good time to buy, not to sell. In L.A.? Modernica Cloud sofa and otto. on eBay $1250

I was just browsing ebay and saw a Modernica Cloud sofa and ottoman. It has a 'buy it now' of $1250. Unfortunately, it is in Valencia,CA and pick-up only! Doesn't help me much up here in Toronto,Canada! However, I just thought I would pass this along if someone was in the market for a sofa. It is it...

Re:Value....

Since these chairs are not rare, unless a prototype or very early production, the fellow asking $259 each was pretty close to the value of the chair. I would estimate the value around $300 each.
You are still getting a good deal at $300 for a pair!
