Hallway looks great! House is coming along... Question, where did you get your mailbox? I've been looking (not real hard) for something and yours looks great. We actually got two for wedding presents so our last house in NC has the same mailbox. I think you can find them at Lowes where we were regi...

My paintings are featured in HGTV's 2013 Dream Home Giveaway

Hey all, Some folks are interested in my work so I thought I would pass this along. I know it isn't technically MCM and all but my work tends to do well in MCM surroundings. Anyway, here is a blurb I sent out lately: Some of you know that 6 of my larger paintings were selected to be featured on HGTV...

As an artist I would not use a pen but have him sign in pencil - Ink has a nasty habit of going fugitive - pencil will last a lot longer if you are going to sign the front.

Do not paint the brick - you will regret it. I am originally from NC and spent a lot of time at the coast so I know you won't be able to get a lush green yard. I might even think about taking out that tree and starting with a blank slate. Being at the coast I think the Palm Springs aesthetic might w...

question about hinges and cabinet pulls

Do those ubiquitous dark hinges and cabinet/drawer pulls - the ones that have 'spades' on the top and bottom - that you see in EVERY kitchen from the 50s with wood cabinets have any re-sale value? I have a bunch of them and was wondering if it was worth the effort or if I should just save them for t...

Our midcentury ranch is 1675sqft - a typical 3-2-2. If I didn't have my painting studio in the house and we didn't resell vintage finds from estate sales I would be perfectly happy with the space for us and the four cats. We will see for our next place. After going to dozens of estate sales I really...

How to poly luan panels

Quick question - I am thinking about putting up 1/4" luan panels on one wall in the den - a feature wall of sorts - I was wondering what products I should use to coat it - a simple flat poly? or something more exotic?
Thanks.

Now I have a problem with ripping out perfectly good stuff - like hgtv people insisting that they have to have stainless when they have perfectly good white appliances but i d...
