I have the same chair (but in Aqua) and it had that white powdery stuff on it, but I assumed it was from being in a garage (I bought it at an estate sale). The material is rather absorbent - a friend of mine left a few potato chips in it and the grease soaked in and made a stain. And it's not very c...

Are you talking about Crime Story with Dennis Farina? My Mom and Dad used to watch that all of the time - Andrew Dice Clay came on later in the series.

The Center City Mall/Carousel Mall in San Bernardino is on the chopping block to make way for a "live/work/entertainment" community. It has some really great details still, and has that "late 60's/early 70's" vibe to it. I think the only thing that wont be torn down will be the o...

The Mervyn's addition to the Huntington Center came in the 80's, and it created another leg of the mall, so the layout was more of a backwards L. The Westminster Mall started with a Sears, Robinsons, May Co., and Buffums. The Buffums went out of business in the 80's and sat empty for a long time. Wh...

I was watching "Eating Raoul" last night and I noticed that when Paul Bland is laying on top of the van while it drives around, you can see the neon sign of the Hollywood Legion Lanes as they drive past.

This web site has helped me out in the past - I bought a Kay Korbing chair at a thrift store and had NO idea who it was. Thanks to this web page, I found out I had one of the "cafeteria chairs" (but mine is in WAY better condition  )

I purchased my color wheel from Harriet Carter (http://www.harrietcarter.com). It looks pretty original and it's only $22.50. I also noticed that they're selling a "1950's" Aluminum Christmas tree in the SkyMall catalog that you look through while sitting on a plane. They're also selling color wheel...

Goodbye Van Buren Drive-In, Riverside

While writing and researching an article about rise in population in the IE, I found out that the Van Buren Drive In is closing and it's slating to become either more Fisher Price tract housing or a Costco. The Press Enterprise ran an article about the big fight on what to do with the property, with...

Well, a funny thing happened.... I've been looking and looking online for the "perfect" platform bed, and I found the exact style and look that I was looking for.... .....at Wal-Mart. IKEA Bed Question

This is so embarrassing, but I need to find out. Has anyone purchased a bed frame and or matress from IKEA? I don't have a ton of money to spend on a bed, and I want something somewhat stylish, but they look so flimsy and fragile. Any info would be appriciated

I got The 70's Dimension the other day, and after watching it - I had mixed feelings. The commercials are great, and the QUALITY is super great. But my problem is with the quanity - it didn't seem like there were a whole lot of commercials. I've gotten other retro commercial DVD's that have 3 times ...

Honestly, the food isn't that great. The dinners aren't bad, but the breakfast is horrible and the price is high for what it is.
