  I wonder how much the umbrella lighting fixtures sold for...maybe they were all sold to one party who plans on returning them to the Parasol for restoration??! I don't think that the newspaper article that stated that everything was sold off is correct. It's my understanding that Roy, t...

I was all excited about Zillow till I looked up my house. I think it's a fun site to peruse but I really question the accuracy of it, at least for my neighorhood. I live in the land of multiple families living in Frankenstein-like additions to what once were small bungalows, concrete lawns, stucco o...

I like how he mentions that he "laminated the menu for preservation." Because you know that laminating a piece of paper is the best way to preserve it what with the high heat and toxic plastic film and all. Luckily, it's not actually something rare.

Your kitchen is gorgeous! That's my dream kitchen right there.

I have about half a Youngstown kitchen and most of it is in bad shape. I might be interested in some of the cabinets. What are you asking for them?

I've been worried about the Koffeepot (also known as the Hot Cha Cafe, built in 1932) for awhile now so I'm glad to hear that someone is interested in it. It's a bummer that the owner is disinterested in potential restoration/re-use though. I wonder if it's the same person who owned it two years ago...

I finally got to stay at the Wigwam on Friday night as part of a little tour of the Inland Empire's roadside landmarks that my husband put together for me as an anniversary gift. Hats off to the Patel family for all the work they have done on the place! It's very clean and well-maintained. The inter...

ModCom mailing list

Sorry to clutter up the board with this but I'm having a problem getting on the mailing list and I was wondering if anyone could help. I've sent two emails to membership@modcom.org and both times I got a mailer daemon error back. If anyone knows another email I could try or some other way to get on ...

Apparently 52 tenants were forcibly evicted today.

Wow. Thanks for posting this. I was just going to post to ask if anyone knew of any classes or resources to learn about this exact stuff! Do you know if he is allowing people to audit it (I think that's what its called when someone takes a class they're interested for no course credit) or if you hav...

That is great news! My dad stayed there as a kid when his family moved out here via route 66 from the midwest and I always wanted to stay there sometime but heard that it was really nasty and unsafe throughout the 80s and 90s. I stayed at the one in Holbrook, AZ last summer and I highly recommend it...

I've been telling everyone I know to go to Arturo's. I don't think the food is bad, but its nothing special either. Any disappointment with the food is totally made up for by how beautiful the building is. It's a treasure. I hope it can continue to operate as-is for many more decades.

Hello! My name is Annie and I've lived in Southern California all of my life. I'm just starting to learn about and appreciate mid-century resi...
