My only time in Milwaukee was 1981 driving from Santa Cruz to Bloomfield Hill, MI where my former wife was accepted to Cranbrook Academy of Art and we were taking the ferry across. The last coal fired ferry on the Great Lakes. No time for a look around. I hope this isn't obnoxious but I assume this ...

Wilson Residence

I just found out my Debate Team coach in high school was the son of the architect and grew up there. He says the restoration was really well done.

It will be in the next issue of Modernism magazine.

I think the consensus around here is that flipper = evil but wouldn't it be cool if somebody took these neglected properties and polished them up with just enough MCM-sensitive repairs to make them desirable again? I often wonder how many "normal" people would fall in love with an MCM-sty...

Bd Real Estate Pics

I am appalled at how bad most RE photography is as well as how little there may be with an online listing. I'll take more bad pics over too few but, really there is no excuse for poorly framed, blurry, glare and the terrible state of places. The photog should have permission to and the brains to mov...

Blast From The Past on CL

Nice pictures (and the Do), the product itself is fun.

Easy to ship if you can talk them into it.

Frigidaire Flair in Oregon

This is not mine. The Flair is the larger one with double ovens and has the rare rotisserie and rarer still it works, temp probe, pull out burners, cool oven doors, storage underneath.. the range that Samantha on Bewitched used. I believe 40 inches wide. The ad says $790.00 but he is actually down t...

Eugene, Oregon, Bank Owned Fixer, Cutie

This came from the real estate broker Sharon Aly that I have used four times. I wish I was more savvy so I could post an image. A fixer and bank owned or it would be 20-24K more, at least. Just listed for only $88,900! In Eugene, OR. This would make a nice Christmas present. hint, hint! http://www.r...

9 Nerdy Film Locations You Need to Visit in Your Lifetime

Not from me but http://www.wired.com/underwire/2011/12/9-for-9-movie-locations/ Includes the iconic Marin County Civic Center, the Ennis House, Top Notch Burgers, so MCM gets a third and FLW two of those. They could have picked a lot of other MCM nerd places but I'll leave it to you to decide. Or ju...

I started my interest in MCM landscaping with the NYT obit of Garrett Ekbo and then buying items at the estate sale of Frederick A. Re: Chatsworth, CA. "Farralone" 1951. Pereira &

I couldn't live there, well, I'd give it a shot if anyone's offering but it's too spare for me and too contemporary in the kitchen and baths. Only people who don't have to clean them have those above level sink bowls I think. I have seen it recently in a movie or HBO/ShowTime series it will now bug ...

Whoa! Look at the price you got. Nice! Nuts isn't it? 175 was the highest price I've seen and my lot of 20 later issues went for 250. Don't anyone ask for a loan that money is going into pharmacy and doctor's pockets with maybe enough left fora set of Guardian Ware available locally and cheap.

Fun story. The last two trips to the PO had an MCM twist. At the first visit there was a woman struggling to open a package that was more tape than cardboard, many people offered to help and she declined saying that the process was part of the fun and her sister was a nervous shipper. "Better m...
