There's a lot of touching going on.

Just don't be touched by this guy.

I have a request, Ken. Please don't enslave me with your zombie eyes, or make me sit next to that glory-hole.

In a perfect world, my life will be exactly like this. I'd like to be the moustachioed gent in the chair, but if I end up as ukulele-boy, that's cool too.

That's sweet! I mean, I've read Il Milione and have tracked Polo's adventures across the silk route and into the empire of the Mongols, but I didn't realize there were such hot chicks. Album covers

I'm not saying we should start a thread about album covers or anything. Or maybe I am. In any event, something deep in my soul is forcing me to share this.

What will become of this amazing backlit plastic? Will the attempt to restore it, filling in the holes? Or will they shrug and tear it all out?

I've got all sorts of mason jars in the cellar, filled with Armadale, Zyr, Ketel One...or Plymouth/Tanqueray gin...packed with sausage. Of course, sausages differ depending on your mood. Summer sausage is good for a summery martini; I use Mettwurst if going for a smoky martini, maybe some chorizo if...

Cool building...and look at that neon! That font! If I owned a streamlined house I'd put that signage on the roof (t'heck with my local zoning!)...somebody please tell me that neon didn't end up in the dumpster.

What house doesn't have a dedicated dance floor? I forwarded these pix to a wood-nut friend of mine, and he says if it isn't manzanita, cypress is a good second guess. I disagree. Though I haven't seen good close pix of the pecking you talk about, so I might change my mind. My family has been harves...

That's manzanita, a desert hardwood. Not usually used in big jobs but for something like this, pull the bark off and shine it up, it's gorgeous. The paneling is not the same, in my opinion. Can we have a photo shot straight on at both?

Heck, it's always amused me that people assume the internet is going to be around forever. I've heard a lot of arguments that it will, but I don't buy it. I think it's more than likely that it will go the way of wire recorders and tin cylinders, and all the information on it now, that we so easily t...

Scroll down to Larry's Sept. 14 post about the film here http://lmharnisch.blogspot.com/ but, spoiler au go-go, don't do so unless you've seen the film, or read this only after you do. Oh hell, go ahead and read it anyway. Funny, accurate stuff.

BTW, there were two blades on the Rosslyn in '47.

Uh...ahem. Ok. Quite a picture. I won't go into the diegetic whatnot regarding Ellroy or the actual case, and I like the folks at NBCUni very much, so I'll just say that yes, there's some decent postwar LA material here.
