Very cool.

I can see a lot of obvious similiarity with the MLK Library that he designed here:

Not shower doors. But I was recently in a Charles Johnson designed MCM in Virginia and instead of curtains, the main back windows had Shoji Screen shutters/shades on the inside that were on sliders. I think they were custom made, but I could be wrong. In any case, they looked amazing. With the right...

Does anyone know of any good MCM landscaping resources? Keep an eye out for the occassional gem on HGTV. I have seen two or three that deal with MCM or Tiki landscaping. They seem to repeat them so perhaps you won't have to sit through too many McMansions getting Tuscan-style gardens. Atomic Ranch ...

I was hunting for LPs in the local thrift this weekend and found a copy of The Ventures Play Telstar.

This LP is on Dolton Records and the company logo reminded me of this thread:

I saw Capote and thought it quite good.

Yea tones of MCM. I think that cop was the Holcomb Chief of Police or similiar. I was surprised that he would have such a cool, mod home in such a small town in Kansas, but maybe that is my coastal snobbery coming through. It looked very cool.

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!! I visited Vegas only once in 1983 and had the pleasure of being thrown out of every casino including the Stardust- I was too young. Somewhere I still have my change bucket with the Stardust logo. Also have a Westward Ho matchbook. Is there anything cool left there? Any point ...

SDR: I bought the large model from Hip Haven. No hole for drainage either although I use mine inside and would not fancy water dripping down to the floor. Nor would I want to place a pan underneath. What I have done, at least for now, is place an old pot upside down in the planter. Then I have a pot...

I had the same search a few months ago when I wanted to replace the legs on my boomerang formica table/stereo stand (one of my more eccentric pieces). I just procured a 1960s teak stereo stand with LP slots for next to nothing. Made in Denmark.

The one problem is there is a splotch of black paint on the top. Does anyone have a specific paint thinner to recommend? One that will remove the paint without harming the teak surface?

Much thanks. :d:

What is required is an education program, I suppose. I reckon you have found your calling. You are correct. It is amazing how their name is being utilized, especially on eBay. 50s modern design is much more appropriate. My mom used that term to describe a light in our house when I was a kid....
