Re: SFX

You know, I went to the Menagerie in Theaters back in November (Paramount did a digital release of that two part episode in theaters to show off the new digital version), and unfortunately the projection was horrible. It was very, very dark. But even so, the special effects looked kinda cartoonish....

Sounds you did a good job and saved a bundle. Well done!

We just moved into a 1952 ranch and one of the sliding closet doors was sluggish. I doused it with silicone and as sumu suggested, waxed the runners- just like a sled. Works a lot better now.

Cold hardy varieties do quite well in Dallas.

I grow Chusan Palms here in DC. After seeing them covered with snow in the Italian alps, I figured why not.

We are in our last week in a space age high rise before we move to our newly bought 1952 ranch. The numerous units vary in vintage level, but there are original features of some sort nearly everywhere. Workmen tossed a door into one of the rubbish rooms. It had one of those Schlage doorknob sets. On...

Douglas Jemal, the developer who bought the property, has a record of being sympathetic to preservationists. For instance, he allowed the oldest theater in DC to be bought and turned into a non-profit and it is flourishing. I had a feeling he might come through in this and sure enough he seems to be...

HGTV ( yes, yes we all have our superficial pleasures...) has a show called Rezoned which deals with that very topic. It features people who have made residence out of just about anything you can imagine- churches, car dealerships, power plants, schools, old mills, small airports and even a decommis...

I seem to recall Futura Girl describing a kitchen she saw with starburst tiles.

Reports indicated he charmed her like nobody else. Lots of great memories. Aloha Don. Mahalo and rest in peace. :d:

I see them occassionally on CraigsList.

Nearby in Kensington, MD, there is an antique district and I have seen them in one of the stores. Also a store near here called the Good Eye sells them from time to time. They are on eBay.

Perhaps there are similiar stores near you. Good luck.

Hey Kfsaer- welcome to Lotta Livin. Where in the Bronx are you? I did four years there myself (Fordham) and still trek up to Arthur Ave, City Island, etc.

Anyway, the house, although not classic MCM, is pretty cool.
