I will say that ANYTHING in Thousand Oaks is going up at rate over 10% a month, there is no inventory of any kind here, much less a home with some historical or architectural significance. That neighborhood is overall...

Something different to do in March

Since there has been interest in the city of Ventura/Oxnard and others have expressed interest in landscaping and finally because most Mod people eventually deteriorate to “TiKiâ€￾ in one way or another, I will make this announcement. The Southern California Chapter http://www.palms.org/socal/ of ...

I drove up the 101 this morning and saw that he indeed is in Oxnard by the Freeway, This area is called Del Norte. The paper last week quoted a councilman from Oxnard saying, " I don't think this is the image that we want to project" Its not? How about PJ's Topless dancing just up the street? Truth ...

Bomb shelter

There is a house in Thousand Oaks that has a shelter under the driveway and is accessed thru a door in the garage. It was an option on houses in this tract, that or a pool. The soil is very unstable here and the house behind this one "fell into" its shelter in the late 60's and had to be demolished ...

POP

Come on...POP was a dump. A blue nightmare, I loved it! It was like the Little Mermaid on steroids. I remember the diving bell, getting a headache from the diesel fumes and wondering how they got all the water out that leaked thru the portholes. Great stuff when you’re six. My girlfriend and I (no...

but how would you classify the architecural style of this house? It was built in 1974.
I am sure it is a early Akron, late KMart...
Which brings up a great question... if it a modern, why? because its not traditional?

I grew up just a few blocks from the Woodland Hills Library. I can still smell the books and ink from my first visit in 1962 where at a ripe age of seven I got my first library card. The library was to become my Walter Mitty escape for many years. Often during the hot summers, I would escape to the ...

This months Better Homes and Gardens has a article on a 1954 A-Frame built by A. Quincy Jones. They used Marmol Radziner furnishings, (I dig the colors) and the Firm also remodeld the home. Typical of these types of magazines, the important details are not talked about. They always leave me asking q...
