Adriene I will be there. It's not far at all, it's kind of adjacent to Long Beach Airport. I hope lots of Modcommers show up. BTW, Adriene, your photos are exquisite. Cheers, Debra Levine

Well that is bloody sad. It's going to be a gorgeous project and I am sure le tout Beverly Hills will stampede over each other to get in the door. Not one salty tear will be shed for Robby's. I note in developer's website the "community buy in" document posted up there -- as well as the se...

red jacket

Apropos Rebel, I just saw Nicholas Ray's Bigger than Life (1956) in which James Mason plays a diseased schoolteacher {James Mason connection to A Star is Born, get it ???} and could not help but notice that the little boy in the James Mason family wears the iconic red baseball jacket Jimmy D. wears...

chic, but addicted

Kent I didn't catch the Wilshire shots ... but forgive me for beaming with pride that I caught Robinson's ... perhaps the fashion maven in me? XXOO Debra L. For those who do not know the film, James Mason kind of pushes his modest wife to shop at a fancy-schmancy lady's shop (Martyn's -- ever so muc...

even drug addicts need well dressed wives

This is *awfully* obscure but Saturday night at LACMA I just viewed Nicholas Ray's Bigger than Life (1956) in which James Mason plays a diseased schoolteacher who gets all hopped up on a new wonder drug, cortisone, and one of the bad side effects is a whirlwind shopping spree for his pretty wife, Ba...

Happy Birthday LACMA

We all need to support our LACMA with membership. LACMA sits at the heart of our city-- geographically and intellectually -- as a diverse and community-minded organization with a world-class art collection. LACMA has taken a body blow from the popularity of the Getty and it's tragic, the LACMA colle...

Come on guys, it's not the soup, it's the Zucky's AROUND the soup that made it so good! But if we are talking soup, I would say that the *only* food item I eat at Cantors is a heavy vegetable/cabbage soup with meat in it, it's a meal in a bowl.

pinch me I am dreaming.

Just someone please make this be a very, very bad dream and we are not going to have to look at those cash machine monstrosities in our city.

Can we go blow up Legacy Partners and then all the bad, greedy, ugly, repulsive real estate development in the world will just go away ?

Tony, Inasmuch as some of us celebrate Jewish New Year in the autumn and Chinese New Year in the late winter, I do believe if you add an asterisk and some fine print to "Happy New Year" indicating the inclusion of these "alternative calendar" new years, you will be well covered. M-M, well done, I ha...

Ambassador Hotel R.I.P.

Am I the only one to find this nauseating, sickening, and totally sick that these photos will hang in L.A. City Hall? In my vain attempt to find a scapegoat for this abysmal failure of a city to rally around its own cultural heritage, I must say that the vultures of Hollywood who enjoyed, used, and ...
