Mr. Nichols,

It's in Century City, not Brentwood.

And it's a really fantastic place. But I wonder, how is Elaine K. Sewell Jones doing?

Hi Keith,

I firmly agree with Mr. Nichols! UCSB has the best architect archives that I have ever visited. Well organized and accessable, unlike those criminals at UCLA.

You might want to try the M-Modern Gallery. They do lots of art openings which incude signings. And they have some flat screen TVs which play videos at those openings.

Hello Heywood Honey,

And welcome to Lotta Living!

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with that material, but it does look really cool! It would make a nice accent wall covering.

I don't know if they still follow the practice, but Taliesen did allow people to buy unbuilt plans and have a Taliesen Fellow be the project architect on building that house. I don't know how many were built, but I think it is rather few. I'm sure Taliesen could confirm that this house is one of tho...

The Arch Oboler house was never constructed, just several guest houses. It is at 32436 Mulholland Highway near Malibu. I haven't been there in like 20 years, but I seem to remember that it was visible from the street. Here's some pictures I found on Flickr: http://flickr.com/photos/23578864@N07/ Tony

Hello Ron and Gia, I think that people here at Lotta Living wish you the best in trying to take care of your Neutra house. But I also detect some frustration about the lack of real information about the house. Is it in Texas? Or in Iowa?, for example. Your cause would be better served if you would p...

I have heard rumors that the Aluminaire is endangered yet again. It was moved and reinstalled at an architecture school in Long Island. But now I understand the school has closed and the site may be redeveloped.

Anyone know more about this?

Must have been a stock image, or they commissioned someone to shoot the house just for the website. Curious though, making something you've had nothing to do with your logo.

Thanks for the pic's SDR!

This is a really spectacular house. I had it on a tour many years ago and it's fantasticly theatrical. It seemed in good shape in the mid-90's. I hope the original custom furniture is still with the house.

Maybe it's just Texas that is odd. I understand that there is a William F. Cody house outside of Houston that also has not been occupied in 30 years. But now it's being restored.

Wish they had more and better pictures on their ebay listing.

Sorry to be so negative, but is this Carrie Geurts, Director of Development, the person responsible for the horrible condition of the VDL house? Or is she just the designated scapegoat, perhaps innocently covering up for the real criminal?

On the other hand Gus Brown collected a lot of funds, over time, that never seemed to be applied to the house. Wonder where all that money went? While a "caretaker" may be important to the survival of a house, the name of the caretaker is rarely, if ever, applied to the house. Which is cor...
