I don't think it's quite that bad...but there are certainly a lot more knick-knacks than I'd ever have in a 1,000 sq ft house. My major complaint is that it just feels like they're trying a little too hard; it's not efortlessly stylish.

Garden Grove, CA - Best Living Room under $350k

Just got back from seeing this house. At first I was inclined to lump it in as just another "not quite right" Cliff May-clone. However, the floorplan is unique and the living room is great. It's not my listing but if anyone is interested, I'd love to represent your interests as a buyer. He...

good luck :) Thanks. I think it went pretty well. There is no way I could do my whole house, especially not in one week; there's no way my patience could hold out that long. In my case, most of the tiles came up with a moderate amount of effort, some cup up very easily, and a very small percentage ...

ain't mad at these http://www.betterlivingthroughdesign.com/images/neutra-box-3.jpg http://neutrabox.com/ The price (I think) is surprisingly reasonable. If you read the description, the quality is very high. The only change I'd make is the recommended mounting. They suggest a 1" pipe but I th...

Pretty much what he said. On mine the backs of the boards are planed smooth, as are the tops and bottoms. The tops and bottoms are easy to do when installing or trimming, but planing or sanding the backs would be a pain. My house was built with an actual kit (X braces and patent plates) so it might ...

This home is by former Long Beach Architect Paul Tay who lived just next door before moving his practice to Mendocino in NorCal. There's one element on the house that I've seen on another Tay home. One the back balcony of the 3rd level there's a cantilevered square-frame trellis hanging overhead.

I love homes like these. There's just something nice, clean, and honest about them. There's a very well-worn phrase used in listings, "Just needs the new owner's personality." In this case, it's actually true.

Long Beach, CA - Neutra VDL-Inspired Home w/Catalina Views

I was able to tour this house earlier in the week. I do not believe it was Neutra-designed but it sure looks like architect and original owner were fans. The price point is...amazingly low...shocking even. The house needs some work but a 2700 square foot slice of modernism with excellent views at th...

Re: Weldtex, Combed or Striated Plywood

My name is Jeff Nichols, and as owner of Eichler Siding, I'm interested in learning more about Weldtex, Combed or Striated Plywood. It was used both as interior paneling and exterior siding. It has a very unique look to it. Very fine "veins" running in parallel to each other. This materia...

Not sure if the picture is leaving out the full design of the exterior, but is that roofline over the garage continues anywhere else on the house? No, that roofline is just for the garage. These homes were built in 1954, several years before Krisel designed butterfly roof homes in Palm Springs. Wit...

Fullerton, CA - Eichler Living. Condo Payments.

This is home I posted about last week but now I have some photos and there's a cool writeup on OCModHomes.com This is a rare opportunity to own an A. Quincy Jones-designed home for the same payment as a basic Orange County condo. We recently completed photoshoot in the house to show off some of its ...

Fullerton, CA - Affordable, Good Condition P&K

I toured this home while out with some clients today. It didn't speak to them but this one is fairly unmolested and it's in a nice neighborhood which is zoned for the prestigious Troy High School in Fullerton. It's also a standard sale so no short-sale shenanigans. It's not my listing but if anyone ...

Tustin, CA -- Two Broadmoor Foreclosures < $360k

These are, by far, the best deals in mid-century homes in Orange County. I know it sounds like hyper-hyperbole, but there's a very unique situation going on in that neighborhood that has temporarily and artificially dropped prices. These homes have some unique features: - Unique interior atria - Var...

I see the realtor "borrowed" a brochure image for the listing. Amazing how people take images without asking, then place them on a copyright protected site. those houses are cheap as chips! Just curious. How would one go about obtaining permission on a 56 year-old sales brochure generated...

Joe,

Nice to see some progress and I like that you have exposed the main beam. What waterproofing system are you going to use for the shower?
