Re: You have a broadmoor feature

On your website. I think they built similar Exclusives in Placentia-'Palm Village' (signage on the wall at Kraemer Bl.-tho the tract itself is a few blks. from the sign) Anyway I digress. I toured an open house on Athens (corner lot) asking 425. Needs A LOT of cleanup. I dunno what it is with some ...

Wow...tough crowd. I agree that most of the time, 2nd story additions end reducing the desirability of the home. But it doesn't have to be that way and there are multi-story MCM homes. Also, I think it's important to remember that most MCM homes were designed under the premise of bucking tradition a...

I can't believe nobody has posted on this. What an awesome link, Peter. I think a lot of people want to "do better" but don't know where to start in terms of tightening up their design process. I think many owners can read this and definitely step up their DIY game when thinking of remodel...

Great find. For people who aren't familiar, Virginia Country Club is an awesome area of Long Beach and has many custom mid-century modern homes. My personal favorites are the George Montierth designs.

Scowsa's Home in Culver City

Earlier this week I was invited to come up to LA and see Scowsa's place. He and his wife recently completed the landscaping and it looks great. What they've done is really amazing...from finding a suitable lot to getting proper variances from the city, it's really an accomplishment and the results s...

It needs some landscaping, etc. But the fence is in good shape. Those pictures are awful though. Kitchen is remuddled...bu...

P&K? kind of sad. you get a sense the people living here have been there a long time and loved their home. reminds of of estate sales of original owners. on the other hand, great design with many original details. Normally I would be sad, but since I'm showing it to an enthusiastic young couple...

I second the vote of "yes." The home is u-shaped and the fireplace design is common to many Cliff May custom homes of the period. As for the photos. There is no excuse for crummy photos on a 7-figure house. The "listing" is an exercise in the seduction of potential buyers. The de...

Wow, you're a one man industry! Have you tried making any aggregate pavers? It seems like it would be an easy thing to do, but I don't know. You'r...

I'm a real estate agent and I think these neighborhoods are very underserved...

I'm surprised no one here has mentioned context. Architecture doesn't live in a vacuum; homes are sited in amongst plants and other homes. I don't like the pain scheme because I think it's a poor fit to its surroundings, the pacific northwest. Such surroundings require the main colors be more coinci...

Something else to consider on a property like this is that you could probably obtain FHA 203K "rehab" financing. They will lend the purchase price + renovation amounts - 3.5% for the FHA downpayment. Personally, I would need to go in less than $460k. I've been in a number of homes like the...

Is that the front door in the lower frame or is there an entrance around the other side?
