Is William Morgan considred part of the group? I just found this thread by searching for William Morgan. So, it's a rather late answer ... William Morgan was not at the Sarasota School of Architecture (a "style" I adore, btw). He studied at Harvard under Gropius and later Jose Luis Sert. He was emp...

Wow - I'd like to have a tour with Martie Lieberman as well, she's one the outstanding modern realtors and always has wonderful listings. Several were included in the tour! From the Realtor database I know home #6, built in 2000 - it's a bayfront home, listed for $4,865,000 in 2004 and sold (or was ...

I’m pretty sure that the free version does not have a trial period … I have the free version since several months, it is free. But it is not 100% precise. When you search for a special address, the marker always sits on a neighbor's property. Never met anyone who isn't impressed by Google Earth...

I've been searching the web for vanities as well, but there isn't much on the market that matches our taste. Most of them look as if they were made for Louis XIV  , the very few sleek ones are extremely expensive. Personally, I came to the conclusion that 1) if become rich somehow (not very li...

I'm an huge fan of Ludwig Mies and his "less is more" thesis. A beautiful place doesn't need ornaments, and every single superfluous detail distracts from the structure itself. The Eichler of this thread looks extremely nice to me, including the furniture. The overall simplicity pleases my eyes. Pol...

I couldn't find a thread about it, so I ask my question here: Is there a "what to do first ..." list when you renovate a house? 1) you may want to live in it for a while and "listen"; 2) decide what to do; 3) choose materials etc (and contractors, if necessary). And then? If almost everything IN the...

Re: Re-thinking the McMansion ?

But those looks appear to be losing some ground to a style that harks back only to the mid-20th century, with flat roofs, generous overhangs and large glass walls. Modernist houses stress connections between indoors and outdoors. Well-designed terraces, architects say, expand livable space, without...
