The beautiful Cliff May we recently purchased (21 days to escrow close & counting!) has a gorgeous Japanese garden courtesy of the current owners. We plan to preserve and tend it (maybe even expand to another part of the property) but have never seen a backyard pagoda - can someone post some pic...

I know what you mean, Joe - I am sad and happy too - I will miss them so much. There aren't *that* many people in the neighborhood that I really like and these folks are the best. I wish we could have the house and the owners too! I didn't want to be too specific about who/where because I want every...

Stephen - your blog is great! After 2 false starts ( we made consecutive offers on 2 run-down Cliff Mays in Pomona, only to have *both* sellers back out and remove their houses from the market!) we lucked out big time: A friend with a meticulously restored Cliff May (the interiors are awesome!) agre...

OMG - Chimay, I love your door. I had seen the Neoportes a while back - very cool and space age but not for an old Cliff May, I'm afraid. Perfect for a James Bond or Star Trek fantasy, though...if I had a nice concrete box (or series of them) - or a Donald Judd construction, a Neoporte would be just...

Plycraft loungers in good shape are going for about $500 in my neighborhood (with ottoman) - I have seen 4 in the past month. I have a nice one myself. These are not Eames loungers, but are nice older knock offs. When you get yours, post some pictures. I am very pleased with mine (have had it severa...

I could fix that house up above a few posts...if I weren't in heavy negotiations for another one, that might be a prime candidate for my restoration efforts. It's exactly this type of remuddling that can be fixed: doors & windows. The clerestory looks good, still has good "bones"... no ugly wire...

I spent 22+ years in the Army and remember when we first got HUMMVs - we had to be specially licensed to drive them and I still have my license! A Question About Flooring

My prospective Cliff May has vinyl asbestos tile which is really damaged. (It was "improved" by a previous owner) What does everyone recommend as a replacement? I am mobility impaired and cannot have the slab polished (which would be my first choice.) I need a floor with a little "tooth" to it so I ...

Can anyone help identify this wire chair?

I love it - and I am having the beat-up one sandblasted & powdercoated in matte black to complement a vintage Bertoia side chair I have. Any info? Thanks! http://sff.net/people/katethornton/0530ragowirechair.jpg http://sff.net/people/katethornton/wire1.jpg http://sff.net/people/katethornton/wire...
