actually

Doesn't really sound like anything new or different. In fact it sounds very much like the tract homes most of us grew up in before there was McMansions-homes of modest size (1300-1700 sq. ft.) 3 or 4 bedrooms and 2 baths 2 car garage usually one story on a 6000 sf lot. Not formal LR DR FR NK Kitch a...

I think it used

Pontiac Gran Prix running gear-at least it looked like the borrowed the taillights and headights/grille from a Pontiac.

I remember a competing wiener company Luer had a vehicle that looked like a rocket ship for the same promotional purposes. (BTW anyone have pics of that-post em here)

I drove by

These on vacation a few years back, at that time the one story house at the end of the group was in the process of being restored, it was fenced off and pretty much 'stripped to the studs', it seems to be beautifully restored.

Mention of Daly City

I remember as a kid on vacation circa 1961 as we drive into SF seeing all those 'ticky tacky' houses, it looked very monotonous then, perhaps because it was pretty new, now I drive up there and it's softened quite a bit-landscape/trees mature, people make changes to their houses, and I'll bet a lott...

I saw this one too

At an open house. I even asked the attending realtor if the garage conversion was permitted-it wasn't and it certainly didn't look it.
I concur with what the others commented. I think the worst drawback tho is
it's location on a busy street.

Hey ya know what

That was on my paper route as a kid. When I had my paper route I think the McAllisters lived there, she was a realtor, and I think served on the Claremont city council, her husband was later a part time professor at Cal Poly and I was in one of his classes, altho I think by then they moved out. They...

the 'some of this modern stuff is just too sterile' bit.....I see thes RE listings for some ultra pricey modern home in Bel Air usually on Huffington Post/LA section and A LOT of the comments are 'ugh looks like a doctors office waiting room or I could not live there' and then you look at the Eames ...

Might be a little controversial but

I'm sure some of you folks have seen the renderings of the so called
ground zero mosque (aptly misnamed of course). I like it. It's a cool proposal esp. compared to what's there now. Your thoughts folks?

And I'd be all for using LED. Altho now I see em being sold in Lowe's maybe they have more appropri...

me of Seaside Fl.

I looked at the online brochure didn't see much in the way of Victorians, mostly looked like Craftsman Bungalows and one even looked like a shingled contemporary.

Yup

Even with the skateboard stuff next door in the park. Skaters still try to
go on them, and the security guard has to chase em off, the owner put a sign up something to the effect to keep off and have a nice day.

Hmm did the stuff burn or melt off the casino?

I work in a bldg (I noted on here) at 6th and Commonwealth in LA It has letters at the top 'Superior Court' they are plastic backed by foam to give that raised look but on the 19th floor you can see the deterioration of the foam just from the exposure to the weather, they have to replace some, as ev...

Yep

KInda noticed that too. Seems they resort to the HD cliches-like too fancy doors that don't fit with the rest of the house, and that 'architectural foam' that they trim with-that once the stucco cracks and if it isn't fixed right away deteriorates really fast. What looks great a big great room that ...

KB home built some homes in Eastvale (the ex dairy preserve north of Corona) and all the models were 1 STORY. You go to their website tho and it's not there-they probably sold out fast. although that meter placement on the corner would bug me! There must be some way to tastfully/decoratively obscure it but still have it accessable for the fuse panel and DWP to read it. But the nice clue is there is no wires above so there is undeground utilities, which is VERY good. I notice thing...
