When we first bought the house in 98, it came with a box of fabulous original b&w photos of the house being built, as well as a few color of the original owners. I don't think they ever could have imagined that a house like that could sell for $849K....and possibly more! As I recall the previous...

Franklin Hills, CA - $849k

Found my old house for sale again! Sold it in 1998. They didn't change it too much except for a closet and a bathroom, and it still brings back lovely memories. Wonderful house!!

Hi there - She moved into the area off the 23 and Janns - I know there's a name for the area but can't remember it right now. Her places is an early 60's ranch, really nice home. Hope my post didn't come off as rude, trust me, I'd love to have an Eichler in TO, but the cost just seems so high. It s...

last I heard the price had been dropped slightly but not sure if it is in escrow or not... There are many beautiful areas in T.O. and you can get quite a lot for that price. Many people are just particular about wanting to own an "Eichler." Luka, where did your sister move? I'd love to be on an acre...

Fire Insurance?

Okay, so in light of all the fires right now, I'm thinking about my crappy fire insurance policy and realizing that I carried over my old policy when I bought my new house.....which means that I probably only have about a coverage of $100 per sq. ft. in case of fire. Would any of you think that is w...

alkaphoenix--you kick A**!!! Thanks so much! Truth is, I am open to anything really, with the exception of 2 things--the swimming pool much accommodate the protective fencing we have (for a few more years at least), and we much maintain some type of play area for the kids. But other than that, withi...

This house was built in 1964, and although a "MC Modern", it still feels OLD. It has a lot of stained wood, and it sort of reminds me of a log cabin. I guess that's why I call it "rustic." It's still a tract home from humble beginnings! Although the bathrooms I feel were well thought out, the fixtur...

Thx joe Another problem is that I can make more money that it would cost to pay some people to do work that you would consider DIY, especially since I would be likely to mess it up and have to pay more to have it fixed...and done right! How funny to be quoting myself...I guess I should see the abil...

Thx joe No, I'm not fixing it up to sell it....more the opposite. I'm coming more to the realization that we are stuck here, so I feel as long as I'm going to be raising my kids in this house I should enjoy every aspect of it. And as it stands I don't. I feel like a lot of the aspects of the house a...

Remodeling--what does $100K get you these days?

I'm not a DIYer, but I'm slightly design savvy. My bathrooms, kitchen, landscaping/hardscaping, pool, and floors need updating. What do you think I can expect to get for $100K with or without an architect? I thinking mostly of an architect for the hardscape/pool. Interested to find out what people h...

I'm disappointed, because I was waiting for somebody to come in and try to defend a $2000 canvas folding camping stool... Would have made for interesting debate. Nobody took the bait. I'll take the bait Chimay. As SDR said, that stool is ABSOLUTELY worth $2000....to the person who is willing to pay...

Wow, you're offline for 3 days and look at what you miss.... First off, I love all the pics of the bathrooms, and I would like to say that I think I have the smallest master bathroom of all....about 4x7 ft.!! That's just a shower and toilet; the sink is in the hall between the bedroom and bathroom. ...

My hubby and I have noticed in a lot of friends' original MCM bathrooms that they always seem to be outdated by like 10 years or so to the construction date of the house...i.e. a 60s house still has a 50s looking bathroom. Does anyone see that as well? If you go with tile I suggest small tile, no bi...

Thanks Joe. Apparently you haven't seen pictures of my poured floor peeling up everywhere. I finally got the bond company to award me $5100 for faulty contractor's work!! I would agree that a rounded edge is more MCM. I think a square edge is more "modern." Our Eichler home actually had all 2 1/2" rounded edge base molding, but interestingly enough it was doublesided. All of the molding was damaged when we removed it to redo the floors. We ended up having all of it c...

My post may be inappropriate to some, but the ONLY other time this poster ever contributed to Lotta Living's forum was to advertise her and her husband's art business. I don't think she cares as much about her house or being a member to this site as she does selling her "art."

Sorry no pics, but my neighbor's closets are veneered wood that glide from sliders up top. They are really beautiful and match the paneling in the main rooms. If I didn't have original sliders I would probably go this route. It's probably pretty economical too.

We had our house inspected by Stuart Glazer, (CREIA) and he had been recommended to us as someone familiar with the Eichler architecture. Sorry to hear about that. Everything always costs more than you expect, right? if it makes you feel any better, if we get any money from the bonding company for the concrete floor that the idiots laid incorrectly, it will only be enough to pay to have the bad floor removed!

good luck
